Garden Angel

As I look outside at my snow covered garden, it makes me long for Spring a little....actually a lot. Once Christmas is over and we've had a nice snowfall, I'm all about sunny weather. I start thinking about what I want to plant in my vegetable garden and what flowers I want to add to my flower beds. However, it will be a while til Spring is here so I'll just have to settle for some flowery cards.

Today I used some background paper from October Afternoon as my inspiration. Both the flower paper and the yellow polka dot paper is from October Afternoon, I just flip flop the papers to get more bang for my crafting buck.
For my main image, I used Karen Lockhart's Gardening Angel. Karen's angels have lots of pretty details to color in. I paired up the sentiment with a Papertrey sentiment and the outline Vintage Label stamp with coordinating Spellbinder's die template. Glittery goodness and a pretty Papertrey ribbon finish off the card front.
The Copic Sketch colors I used are shown below, for your coloring convenience:
I felt super crafty today so I added a little something extra to the inside of my card. I stamped a Papertrey sentiment and a swirly flourish stamp from Karen Lockhart. I used a fine tip marker to make some outlines too. I love the extra detail from stamping on the inside of cards. Hope your day is going great! And here's a little tip for ya: If you love flowers like I do and yearn for those Springy sunny days, there's no reason you can't have fresh flowers around you. My local Wal Mart(hey, it's the only thing close) has fresh bouquets for $5 and $10 bucks all the time. They're pretty nice most of the time and I plan on adding some fresh bouquets to my shopping cart often this winter. Treat yourself, you deserve it........substitute some flowers for those potato chips. ;) Later bloggie friends!
P.S. Coming this week: 2 new kits and my Valentine Inspiration Station............yeehaw!

Great card, Mish - and I love what you did to the inside. I'm with you on the garden thing. Now that Christmas and New Years is over with I'm yearning for Spring to come and bring all those gorgeous flowers with it. I'm also with you on the fresh flowers idea. I had an accident recently and got two really lovely bouquets of flowers that I have been enjoying and once they bite the dust I think I'm going to take your sage advice and buy myself flowers. Really, there's nothing like it to brighten an otherwise drab day. Happy New Year, Mish - wishing you and your family a wonderful 2010!

Hi Mish, found your blog via Kendra Wietstock's. Love your cards, so much to learn from. I'll be visiting often. Love this new creation of yours and before I say cheerio, would you mind sending me some snow... it's hellishly hot in Cape Town (30 degrees). I'm sitting next to a fan with a few patches of red skin which is burning like heck. Was watering the garden and sure I had covered myself completely with sunblock... obviously not!!! Oh well, roll on Autumn! Take care, Sharon

Cute angels. I usually think of them for Christmas, but it's nice to see them for year round use. Michelle, I have to tell you I had the best time yesterday making a little valentine inspiration station after viewing your use of scraps. I dragged out every pink, red or heart thing I have along with every punch I own. I have gone in and looked at all the pink and red cuteness everytime I walk past my craft room. Please keep making "doo-dads" for us with less inspiration to get ideas. Now all I need to do is figure out what to do with them. Thanks so much.

Hi Michelle!
Love your blog I have been a follower for a while now...was wondering have you ever been interviewed by a mag or webmag? You would make for an interesting article! I would like to know how did you start papercrafting, what your scrap room looks like, etc.....Just pondering...waiting on your VD inspiration station!

Patiently waiting on that Valentines Inspiration Station!
Also, I really loved the inside of your card today. You are so creative and those are details I don't ever seem to think of.
I'm with you on the wishing on spring, gardening, etc. The weather is going to be COLD, COLD, COLD through at least next weekend so I'll just dream of spring and make plans for when it finally does get here.

It's been snowing for three days with another day coming, so thank you for bringing some flowers and sunshine to my Saturday evening. It will make me smile when I shovel again tomorrow!
Thanks for showing the detail on the inside too...I'm never quite sure what to do on the inside of the card and just a sentiment doesn't seem right.

Happy 2010! I love checking in with what you are doing...always fabulous!
Garden question for you - do you recommend any websites for us black thumbs (it could be ink) to learn from? We bought a home and have space for some nice garden beds...I just don't have the experience - and you being the country gal you are, might have some tips?! :)
Thanks in advance if ya have some direction! Hugs!

Super cute card,Mish! I was wondering where you purchase your copics? Also, what is the brand of that purple pen you used to draw your sketch challenge? I'm from Topeka so I'm hoping it's somewhere local. ;) Thanks so much for your help!

Mish...My mother in law would absolutely LOVE this card. All springy and angel-like. It must go on my CASE list, along with almost everything you do. Inspired. And by the way, 82 degrees today. At Costco eating a delicious hot dog outside, almost got a sunburn. Be happy for the snow. I have to pull weeds all year long!

Take care and well, spring will be thre in no time :)
