Happy Mail Card...

Happy mail....there's nothing like it. Josey has been shuffling through the mail for birthday cards this week. She's gotten two cards so far. Boy, I can remember getting cards in the mail as a child. It was so fun to see your name on the envelope....and even better if a few bucks fell out of the card. My aunt always sent us those cards where the coins fit into the little slots. I LOVED those! Wonder if they still make them.

With all of the technology and fast past these days, I think the gesture of sending out a handmade card is so special. I have to admit, I haven't done much of it lately. I think I'll make it a goal this month to send out some cards. How about you, want to take on the challenge? I think it would be fun to read your comments about who you'd like (or need) to send cards to this month.

For me, I need to make a birthday card for Josey, an anniversary card for my folks, a thank you to our relatives for their hospitality and a little card for Cousin Myrtle who is 101. I think when I make a list and have specific people in mind, it makes my card making sessions so enjoyable.

Here's a sweetheart of a little card that I finished up today. I used a darling image from the Pure Innocence collection called Happy Mail. You can find it here online....I got my stamp from Scrapbooks, Etc in Topeka, Kansas.
I colored the image with Copic Sketch markers and paper pieced the little dress with patterned paper. Patterned papers are Cosmo Cricket's Delovely collection.
In keeping with the happy mail theme, I used a gingham envelope from Michael's...Martha's collection, I believe. I lined the envy with patterned paper and stuck in a snippet of paper with words to resemble an actual letter. The lace embellishment is from Jolee's collection at Michael's as well as the tiny glitter and pearl flower.
It's so fun to see items tucked into little envelopes. Here, I embellished a Buttered Popcorn Carnival Ticket from my Etsy shop with a snippet of patterned paper and a stitched on button. Oh how I love the little embellishments.
Here's the Copic colors that I used on the stamped image.
So, you think you'll be sending out some cards this month? I have a lot on my plate but I hope to get some happy mail sent out. :) Hope you all have a great July 4th weekend. Eric took an extra day off so we're very happy to just relax and enjoy our family time together. Light some fireworks for me!

Mish,
You always encourage us to send cards...very much appreciate it!

I just made a few to send off to one of my sons friends who just had his bone marrow transplant for cancer and his parents too.

Love your blog and quite often look at it work where I can't comment...so thank you, thank you, thank you for the continued inspiration!

Happy Fourth and happy b-day to your mom and Josey!

This is a happy card. While I'm not into the cutesy images (I'm not an animal person either, so I guess that says something about me.), I do love what you did with the little envelope. And those Delovely papers are divine.

I sent out 12 summer wishes cards to my religious ed class last week and six 4th of July cards to family on Thursday, all complete with notes. Since I don't blog and am not on multiple design teams like you, the purpose of my card making is for keeping in touch. Somehow I still end up missing birthdays, though. I think that dates get in my way.

Happy birthday to Josey. And enjoy your holiday weekend with your family. I'm off to take advantage of the great weather.

I'm sending out some birthday cards and a thank you card for some one who brought some PTI goodies to Holland with him (no shipping, yeah!). And some just because cards for some friends who need them
Happy 4th of July to you and your family.
Eveline.

I made a list on the last day of May of fun summer things I wanted to do and one of them was to send out more cards this summer. So far so good. I did about a half a dozen cards in early June to send out and the last two weeks of June I made 12 Fourth of July cards and mailed all of them last week. I am now working on a pile to send in July. Just finished about three today after working at our 4th of July parade in my community.Having said that you must know that your blog is a HUGE place of inspiration for me, always has, I check your blog everyday. I love your style and of course have all the stamps you helped to design on PaperTrey Inc. I hope you have some more designs coming.I hope you and your family have a wonderful 4th of July holiday.

I so wish we lived close to eachother - I think we'd have so much in common! I LOVED those cards with the coin slots, too! I used to get a Holly Hobby card every year with coins from my step-great-grandma, Blanche. I never met her, but I loved getting those cards!

I will commit to sending more cards this month, I have a few birthday cards to get out, a get-well card for my favorite aunt who has been quite sick lately, and a thank you/farewell card to the Director of my son's preschool as she retires. I'm sure if I think about it, there are others.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful 4th of July and take time to celebrate our great nation!

Happy birthday, Josey! It's funny that you should mention sending out more cards, Mish, as I have been doing just that. A clean-up of my card room lead me to a stash that I was willing to part with (since I thought they were already gone), and I've sent out 6 cards in the last 3 days, for thank you, get well and birthday. Now I just have to work on giving up more current ones, lol.

I make all my cards. I love to add embellishments but then the mail service charges an extra 20 cents. So the ones I have to mail are more plain, just do more coloring. The rest I hand-deliver.
I make my cards each one is different. I try to make them sort of personal.

Really cute card, Mish. I used to love those coin-holder cards too. I don't know if they still make them, but knowing you, you'll be cranking one of those out sometime soon! I really do need to get on the stick and send out some cards. I'm a little late for some thank you cards that really should have gone out last week, but by the time the fireworks fly, I'm convinced I'll have those puppies made and in the mail so they're received right after the 4th.

My mom passed away three weeks ago and I miss her so much. I always sent her cards and she kept everyone of them. I decided I will send cards to my brother in her place now. Everyone always appreciates cards.
Happy birthday little red!

I have sent 82 cards so far this year, but only 32 of them have been hand made. I've been making several lately, so have a few ahead. I send cards for birthdays, sympathy and thinking of you/get well mostly. I sent one to Jennifer McGuire this week, who is collecting for a little 5 year old who lost her twin sister to cancer in June. So, a few of mine go to people that I don't know. Thank you for reminding us to think of others, and happy birthday to Josey.

Hope you have a great 4th Of July with the family. Have to say, I love to see the postman coming to the door, you can't beat the real thing. That's the pity of e-mail, so many use that and miss out on the picking and choosing of a card exactly right for the person receiving it and even better is the opening of an envelope and seeing a card made especially for you........keep up the campaingn Mish

Happy 4th! Happy bday to Josey, too. Great reminder about sending cards..I'm always amazed at card designers who have boxes of cards they made and haven't sent...I never seem to have enough as they go out as fast as I make them. There are a couple of older ladies in my church who live alone and don't have any family nearby. I try to send them a card every month. It's quite a bit of effort for them to just get to the mailbox that I want it to be worth the work! :) As always Mish, you bring the simple priorities of life back into focus. Blessings!

I am a teacher and I try to send out birthday cards to most of my former students. I agree that young people need to feel the happiness and excitement of getting something that is just for them in the mail. I can just imagine their faces when they get the card for their birthday and it makes me all warm inside. I love the feeling of making someone else feel good and important.
