Dainty Doilies + Ornament Tags

Hi friends.  Here I am again today with a sparkly new post.  I am really excited about getting a head start on my holiday wrappings this year.  I am going to keep my gifts simple and mostly homemade this year. And simple tags and wraps are going to be my go to gift wrap.  Today I'm sharing some sweet tags that I'm creating with Parcel Tags (today I'm using the Large and Small Tags) from my Etsy shop along with a brand new item...Dainty Doilies.  The doilies will be sold in sets of 10 and measure 4" in diameter.  Doilies are such a hot crafting item right now.  You can stamp on them, paint them, cut them up, use them as background paper, sew on them, create layered embellishments..the possibilities are endless!
Okay, let's get started.  Using patterned paper from Crate Paper and Dawn's new Vintage Ornaments Die Collection, I die cute the long ornaments...making sure that a cute snowflake was centered in the round part of the ornament.  No additional stamping on the ornaments was necessary because the patterned paper shows plenty of design.
I then cut a Dainty Doily in half with my paper trimmer and adhered it to a Large Manila Parcel Tag.  I also added some scalloped edged patterned paper to the bottom of the tags, creating really decorative tag.  I used the Small Scalloped Border on the same Crate Paper patterned paper.  I then stitched around the tag with brown thread.  My sewing machine is completely wonky right now. I think I've gotten the $10 of use out of it from when my mom bought it at a garage sale.  Look at the Dainty Doilies, aren't they frilly and pretty?
Next up I added my ornaments with a rhinestone center, tied Lavender Moon Vintage Buttons and Wrinkle Ribbon loopy strings for tying the tag onto a sack.  I also added some Chunky Snowflake Glitter around the left edge of the tags.  Look for this in my Etsy shop soon.  Soo fun to use on holiday projects...instant snow!  You can use a glue pen to adhere the snow glitter but I like to use a clear, liquid glue and smear it all around...this gives a thicker coverage and allows more glitter to adhere to your project.  Be prepared for your craft space to be totally snow covered.  :)  Zoom in on the photo for glorious glitter magnification.
Next up I needed some sort of to/from area on my tags.  I ended up covering the back of the tags with more snowflake patterned paper.  Then I stamped to/from sentiments from Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers onto scraps of the patterned paper.  I cut the words out with scissors and adhered them to Small Manila Parcel Tags.  More snow glitter was added, leaving enough space for me to write names.  These tags were easily tied up with the Wrinkle Ribbon.  I love this look on the back of the tags...completed adorned from front to back.  And so merry and bright.  Won't you guide my sled tonight?  :)  Everybody sing!
We're not done yet though.  I need some gift wrap for my tags.  I decided to use my Brown Paper Sacks so that I could slip in some cards as gifts.  Cards are still a favorite gift that never goes out of style.  Remember that when you're trying to come up with gift ideas this year.  I know you have a little stash of supplies already waiting for you.

This time I wanted my brown sacks to be a little fancy schmancy so I got out my wonderful Claudine Hellmuth Studio paints.  I used pink, purple and white to create the pinky/purple color on my tags...and ended up adding a dot of red to brighten up the color.
Using Piney's Snowfall stamp set, I painted the stamps with my paint mixture and stamped directly onto the brown sacks.  Before the paint dried, I sprinkled on regular Prisma Glitter.  Oh now this is cute and sparkly.
So now I have two sets of gift sacks/tags ready to go for the holidays.  I'm storing all my goodies in cute bread tins with doilies.  So when it's times to do my wrapping, I'll just be able to shop in my own little gift wrap section.  So fun!
Hope you enjoy!

Hey, Michelle. From the looks of the pictures, it looks like the tension on your sewing machine is off kilter. I know this problem well. I think I set mine to 4/5 and then tried to run through some scraps. It worked it out okay. Also, check your bobbins for strays. :) Might help...I'm no expert, but I'm learning from one of the best. Otherwise, I too, would be dumping many machines. LOL

Hi, Love your tags. I have a question. My daughter is making a "cheese" book and needs either stickers or small stamps of a cute goat, cow, and a lamb. Can you direct me? Thanks

Very pretty! I can hardly wait for my order to come with the vintage ornament dies. Simple and great idea to use lunch bags. Homemade gift items are on my list for giving this season too. (French butter cookies!)
