A happy hello....

I'm sharing more cards today made from the Papertrey Ink Don't Forget To Write Kit. I spent some time die cutting and stamping flowers, stamping a sentiment then adding typed words with my vintage typewriter and selecting papers and envelopes.  

 I ended up with a fun little set of generic greeting cards, perfect for any occasion.  My favorite colors too.

 Fun details added like machine stitching, the gold paperclip and Washi tape.  Old dictionary paper was used for the background. Card sets are from Paper Source.

 A hand stamped envelope makes receiving a card in the mail just that much more special.

Just a note of thanks card set....

In my previous post, I shared a card making station that I set up.  Here's my first batch of note cards.  

 I usually mass produce when I get out my supplies because it's just as easy to take a little more time to stamp a mess of cards rather than just one at a time.

 Vintage music paper in the background.  Die cuts, stamping, stitching and a paperclip to finish off the fronts.

On the envelopes, I stamped a sentiment then added a splash of watercolor to coordinate with the card fronts.  More to come, stay tuned.  What have you been creating lately?

Don't forget to write card making station...

Long time no blog, friends.  It's been a very busy month around here with Mother's Day, graduations, birthdays, end of school activities, softball, etc.  I made it over the hump and finally took some time to do something just for me.  After spending way too much money of store bought cards recently I decided to take some time to set up a card making station.  It's one of my favorite things to do.....just gather up stamps, papers, washi tape, embellishments and more and organize them all in a vintage basket.  The perfect little set up to help create some hand made cards. 

 The main stamp set I'm using is from a kit designed by Betsy Veldman from Papertrey.  She has been knocking it out of the ballpark with her fun designs.  Below is the stamp set that came with the kit but that's just a little bit of the kit...there are dies, stickers, envelopes and much to play with.

 I love colored envelopes and these are the ones that came with the kit.  I also have a huge stash of some fun colors from Paper Source and a few other places that I'll dig into also.

 Still loving gold accents so I fished a few things out of my stash.

 Baker's twine to coordinate with the colors in the kit.

Embossed Hello Cards...

Hi there.  Today I'm sharing some embossed cards I made using the April Gossamer Blue kits.  I started with the 6 x 6 paper pad and stamp from the Bits & Pieces Kit. 

I trimmed down these small pieces to use on the card fronts. 

Next I reached for my embossing powders.  It's always fun to dig through your stash of supplies that you haven't used for a while. 

I embossed "hello" on all the small pieces then layered them with green ledger paper and small, lined index cards.  Paperclips and little top stitching added the finishing touches. 

Nice generic cards that I can add typed sentiments to if I need them more customized for a birthday, etc.

Lots of patterns and textures to add interest.

The embossing always adds a nice shiny look to the cards.

These just might end up in Josey's pile of thank you cards that I'm creating.  All I need to do is type up some thank you sentiments and then she can hand write a note inside.  Love having cards like this on hand.  Hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

Embellished Notebook...made with Gossamer Blue April kits

Recently I shared how I embellished a notebook using Gossamer Blue April kits.  I thought I'd share here on my blog too.  I started out with a journaling card and painted on some Martha Stewart craft paint. I also painted the edge of a simple index card. 

Using the Life Pages days of the week stamps I stamped down the side of the journaling card.  I also added a sticker over the dried paint.

I added some chipboard pieces on top of those layers.

I covered a notebook (from Target probably) with patterned paper, chipboard letters and my layered pieces.  I added some Washi tape and machine stitching too.

A fun little notebook that I dedicated to planning Josey's graduation and my folks' 50th wedding anniversary party this Summer.  It's came in very handy because all of my notes and lists are in one place.

Typewriter Card

Happy Monday everyone.  Hope your week is off to a good start.  Today I'm sharing a fun card using the 1970-Something Kit from my shop + products from the April Gossamer Blue Kits.  I love mixing and matching items that I create with items from the kits.  

This card has an office supply feel so it could be especially fun to give to a co-worker or a school secretary....or how about a friend who loves the whole planner craze.  I stamped the days of the week from the Gossamer Blue Life Pages Kit onto an index card.  I stitched on a tag from my shop kit then layered on the mini typewriter Instagram and slid the fun paperclip in place.  A little wood veneer heart and enamel dots from the Gossamer Blue kits finish off the card.

I think it's so fun to make time for yourself, or invite a few friends over, and just sit down with your kits and items that you pick up here and there.....and just create for the fun of it.  If you limit yourself to just a few kits and items from your stash, the choices are easier.  I like to make cards and coordinating gift sacks, gift tags to attach to homemade jams and jellies, little gift enclosure cards to send along with little flowers to plant for Spring, etc.

Hi friends.  It's been a while since I've listed some kits in my shop so today I'm excited to show you my new Beautiful Butterflies Kit.  It's a dainty little card kit that was inspired by soft, Fall colors of burnt orange, buttery yellow and aqua.  I love how Fall takes on a subtle appearance at first with muted colors, clear blue skies and fluttery orange butterflies just floating about.  

 I love to offer these small kits because I know how it is when sometimes you feel crafty but the inspiration just isn't there.  In the kit, you'll get all the crafty supplies shown below...just enough to create a few pretty cards & enough leftovers to make some pretty packaging, tags, etc.

 These are samples of two cards that you can create with the kit items.  If you purchase a kit, you can print off this photo, take it to your craft area and and recreate the cards with the kit items.

 I love to layer and stitch over die cut butterflies.  Add a tied button and you've got beautiful butterfly tails.  With the addition of the charcoal gray to the cards, you can easily send these out all the way through Halloween for a pretty Fall pick me up.

 You can get fanciful with your layers or keep it simple.  You'll also receive two stamped pieces in your kit for instant sentiments. This stamp set is from Papertrey and is designed by my good friend, Pine....Heather Nichols to be exact.  :)

The kits are all lined up and ready to go.  Each little kit is picked and prepared and packaged by me with crafty love.  I only created a small number of kits so they're only available in limited quantities.

 I was even inspired to paint some pretty tags this morning for packaging.

 You can carefully remove the tag to recycle and reuse.

Colorado Road Trip 2014 Mini Album....the supplies

My family + 3 other families are headed to Colorado soon for a fun Summer vacation. I've got the making of a mini album in progress so I thought I'd share my supplies that I have set aside for this project. 

The Gossamer Blue July kits were packed full of products that were simply perfect for the look I was going for.  Our vacation will include lots of ATV trails, road side stops by flowing creeks, white water rafting, picnics and nature hikes.  I wanted lots of florals, nature and fun prints + some road trip embellishments.  Here's what I selected....

First up was this beautiful assortment of patterned papers.  These come from all the various kits + the 6 x 6 Open Road Crate Paper pad from the July Bits & Pieces Kit. 

 The sticker embellishments were right on track for my mini album.  The chipboard alpha and October Afternoon label sheet is from the July Main Kit.  The Open Road stickers from Crate Paper are in the July Main Add-On Kit.  The Studio Calico phrase sticker sheet is from the July Bits & Pieces Kit and the Pink Paislee Switchboard alpha is from the July Life Pages Add-On 3 Kit.

 I dug through my stash of Gossamer Blue stamps, choosing sets that had travel and foodie images.

 I have lots of little tins packed full of travel, floral and label images.  These are tucked into the various July Gossamer Blue Kits.

 For my mini album, the Studio Calico Handbooks are becoming a favorite.  I'll be using the Chocolate Handbook this time along with different size page protectors. A fun discovery is that the We R Memory Keepers 2 x 2 Photo Sleeves and the 4 x 4 Photo Sleeves fit the rings of the Hand Books. I'll also be trimming some other Project Life page protectors down I'm sure.  I love mini albums to have lots of different size page protectors and things like pockets, etc.

 I really love the Crate Paper Open Road Journaling Cards that are included in the July Gossamer Blue Life Pages Main Add-On Kit.  I'll pair them with other GB journaling cards and ones that I create on my own for some fun title cards.  You can see a peek of some title cards I created in advance.  I love the feel of this album....lots of muted nature colors, some quirky alphabets like what you might see on old hotel signs with the big arrows pointing to the hotels and snippets of road trip and nature themed embellishments.

 Totally fun and I can't wait to add in my vacation photos & journaling.

 I packed up a few vintage storage items with my kit supplies.

 When I return from our road trip I'll have everything waiting for me.  If I have enough space I'm hoping that I can fit our 2013 Colorado trip photos into this album too and just divide the two events with index labels or title pages.

Winnie & Walter Guest Blog Post....Floral Cards

I love a good floral stamp set, especially when I can create a vintage look with the images and have lots of options for adding color.  It's also great when the stamp set has a fun typewriter font that I love so much.  Winnie & Walter's The Big, the Bold and Extras has just the look I love.  

I used a journaling card as the building block for my images.  I stamped the images in brown ink, stamped the filler image then colored a few accents with Copic markers.  For the banner I did some two step stamping with a light pink ink.  My vintage typewriter came in handy for adding a birthday sentiment.  I popped the flowers and birthday sentiment up with pop dots.

A strip of washi tape placed diagonally is accented with a staple.  The journaling card has stitching to add a homespun look.  I used a pretty patterned paper from my stash for the background.

Winnie & Walter Guest Blog Post....Colorado Countdown Calendar

Today I'm sharing a fun countdown calendar that I created with the Winnie & Walter stamp set called The Big, the Bold and Fun.  I'll be doing a few guest posts this week using Winnie & Walter products.  They're a new little company so be sure to check them out.  

Last weekend we had a BBQ with the four families that will be traveling to Colorado together in July.  We planned out our travel itinerary, meal plans, activities to do in Colorado, lodging, etc.  I thought it would be fun to give each family a little countdown calendar to mark off the number of days until our trip.  I know my girls are super excited and can't wait so I know the younger kids would be excited too.

I used a 4 x 6 Becky Higgins Project Life journaling card as my base.  I included a photo of our lodge and then stamped words and phrases all over the card.  The adventure words were stamped with craft paint, mixing green and brown to give an outdoor feel.

For the bottom of the card I used an older Stampin' Up! calendar that I stamped on grid paper.  I added a swipe of paint to create a base for a typed phrase.  Woodgrain washi tape finishes off the countdown calendars.

Everyone loved the calendars and now we're even more excited for our trip.  Seventeen crazy friends road tripping to Colorado.  It can't get here soon enough.
