A cupcake wedding card...

My cousin's bride to be loves cupcakes. She bakes gourmet cupcakes and takes them to work almost weekly. After finding out that their wedding colors are pink and brown, I thought a cupcake themed wedding card in those sweet colors would be perfect. I paper pieced cupcakes using Papertrey's Cupcake Collection stamp set. By adding a little shading with a pink Copic marker on the cupcake liners and popping the frosting up with pop dots, the cupcakes take on a realistic look. Glitter finishes off the frosting for the festive occasion. The cupcakes are resting on a Spellbinders Labels Three die template, with a brown marker outline made while the die was still on the white cardstock. Two little hearts from Heart Prints float above the cute cupcakes.
Sentiments from the Cupcake Collection are along the bottom of the card. Sweet Blush Swiss Dot ribbon and October Afternoon patterned paper finish off the card front.
I made a custom sentiment for the inside of the card from Heartfelt Basics and a $1 alphabet set (cupcakes). I think it's perfect for this cupcake themed card. I think the cupcake loving bride will think this card is sa-weet!

Monogrammed Wedding Card

Good morning all you lovely people. I woke up way too early for a Saturday. Eric was clanging around in kitchen fixing his usual Saturday morning eggs. Today we have Eric's cousin's wedding to go to. The girls are the guest greeters/gift takers and will be sporting long dresses in lemon color with a scarlet ribbon around the waist. Josey is not thrilled about wearing this dress, after all it is not a t-shirt with a sports logo on it and long sports shorts. She'll live though. The gang all went to town for something or other but later on I'll be removing the blue toe nail polish and painting little piggies with a more wedding appropriate scarlet color. Then it's on to doing the girls' pretty red hair. Josey informed me that the girls' have never been to a wedding!! That never even dawned on me before, how did that not ever happen?

Anyway, I made a wedding card to go along with my other gifts and thought I would share it today. My color choices match the wedding colors, I used Lemon Tart and Scarlet Jewell paper and accessories. This card really shows how you can mix and match your stamp sets. For the base card I used Polka Dot Basics II, Life and Heartfelt Basics. Kind of an eclectic card but not too overwhelming. Then for the focal point of my card, I used a leftover monogrammed circle using the couple's initial from their last name. Underneath it, I used my favorite loopy circle from Borders and Corners Circles to add some oomph to the monogram. I then tied my card with pretty ribbon in Lemon Tart. Vintage buttons in Scarlet Jewel and Lemon Tart were tied with Rustic Cream Twine and placed randomly on the card front. Now I've got to go find a matching gift bag to package all my gifts, including my two monogrammed card sets I made this week. Often times for gifts, I like to attach the wedding card right to the front of my packaging...especially cards like this that match the wedding colors so well. You always know that your card is going to be one of a kind when you create it yourself.

Well, I'm off to iron our wedding outfits and then go see how many cucumbers multiplied last night in the garden! Have a great weekend everyone!!

Damask Designs Wedding Cards

One more set of simple wedding cards to round up the week of wedding inspiration. Today I used my sweet friend Dawn McVey's Damask Designs set along with sentiments from Heartfelt Basics. I stamped a damask image and sentiment with Dark Chocolate ink onto Stamper's Select white card stock, layered it onto Dark Chocolate card stock and then tied it up with some Martha Stewart Cloud ribbon (from Michael's). Let me just focus on Papertrey's Stamper's Select White card stock......it's fabulous.......and it's a very thick card stock that takes ink well, and you can easily use it for your base card. It stands up well and is not flimsy at all. I always keep a stack handy for all my stamping and coloring.
I added some brown, shiny sequins under the sentiment for some wedding bling bling. I love the sentiments from the Heartfelt Basics set because you can mix and match the words that complete the sentiment phrases...this one is just perfect for weddings!
I finished off the insides of my cards too with some of the October Afternoon scraps and more sentiments from Simple Little Things (last year's PTI anniversary set..now retired but oh so useful). I think the *now and forever* really tie into the wedding them.

I hope you've enjoyed my wedding card samples. All this stamping for weddings and I only kept one or two for own stash. Looks like I'll have to visit the wedding cards again soon....but for now it's time to move on to something new. Stay tuned for something new and exciting next post! Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Just Rite Wedding Cards

Edit: Tracey has this dilemma: I have just invested my life savings in Nestabilities and can't quite seem to get the deep embossing that you get. Do you have a secret? I use the Cuttlebug is it possible my sandwich is not right or maybe the cardstock?

Here's the sandwich you need to use with your Cuttlebug, Tracey(from bottom to top). You'll get deeply embossed dies:

For cutting: A plate, C plate, die (cutting edge up), cardstock, B plate....run through machine.

For embossing: A plate, 3 pieces cardstock (I use Papertrey thickness cut to the size of 3 A2 cards), B plate, die (cutting edge up) with cut cardstock die inside, tan Spellbinders mat, B plate..run through machine.

More wedding cards comin' right up! I've been labeling all my wedding cards posts with *Wedding*. So if you ever need ideas for a specific type of card, simply go to the Labels link at the left and it will list all of my categories. Inspiration at your fingertips. Today I'm using some stamps from the Just Rite set called Weddings Ensemble. There are 6 border images and 6 center images to mix and match for all your wedding needs. For my base card, I used some beautiful Webster's Pages card stock along with some embossed papers that were in my stash. I used Papertrey ribbons and some pearls to finish off the simple cards.
For the main images, I stamped my images and then cut and embossed them using Spellbinder's Circle Nestabilities Die Templates. To add a little color, I used my Copic Airbrush System while the dies were still in place.

Tip: To keep the Nestabilities in perfect place while running through your cutting machine, simply adhere a little piece of clear tape over the edge of the die and your paper. This will secure your die to your card stock and will prevent any slipping.

Heart Prints Wedding Cards

Edit........Tracy asked: Have you done any further work on a card sketch book kit you talked about in your Jan. 2008 post? I would love to have a book of your exclusive sketches!!!

Answer: No, I haven't. At this time life is just too busy so I won't be doing any sketch book kits....gotta keep life simplified so that it doesn't pass me by, KWIM? Thanks for asking though.

Oh, how I truly love my beautiful messes. I couldn't have a better job than stamping and creating and being able to be here for my family. And I love that I'm able to be the *go to* girl for all of my friends who are not stampers and who are not creative. They keep me hoppin' with new creations. I'm still on the wedding cards this week. Today I have a FUN set of cards that use my favorite Papertrey Heart Prints set. You seriously need this set...for Valentine's Day, weddings, anniversaries, love and just every day cards. The fact that this set pairs up with the Heart Punches makes it an even more versatile set because you can punch hearts and layer, etc......just get this set, trust me!
I made this set of cards versatile again, being suitable for wedding showers or for the actual wedding. I chose colors to match the fun October Afternoon patterned paper, using Dark Chocolate and Ripe Avocado for the ink colors. I stamped the hearts, punched them with the Large Heart punch and added a polka dot heart outline from the Borders and Corners Hearts set.
I finished off the layers with some Ripe Avocado Twill Ribbon and a Vintage Buttons, along with some messy stitches to secure the ribbon. These cards are simple and clean and very snazzy!
Above shows a photo of the insides of the cards. I used some leftover scraps to create strips for the insides. The *best wishes* sentiment is from Beyond Basic Borders.

Woohoo, are you feelin' the love? I've had weddings on the brain so much lately that I got out my wedding box. It was so fun to look at our engagement photos, wedding invitations, the garter and little bird seed bags I saved. Oh what a fun time weddings are!!

Lockhart Bride

Happy Beautiful Morning to you! Today I have some more traditional wedding shower cards to show you, using my absolute favorite color. I just love this blue-grey color that I call *front porch blue*. I found these beautiful papers by My Mind's Eye at my local scrapbook store(Scrapbooks, Etc in Topeka, Kansas), and the colors remind me of my grandma's front porch. It had many thick layers of this color of blue/gray and it makes me happy every time I think of her house. For my main image, I chose Karen Lockhart's pretty Bride stamp. As you can see in the photo above, she's got a handsome Groom stamp to match. For the bride's dress, I wanted to keep it pretty much the creamy color but I did want a little contrast to set it apart from the background. So I reached for my Eclipse Masking Tape and made a reverse mask for the skirt portion of the bridal gown. I carefully cut the skirt out with scissors and taped back together the mask. I used my Copic Airbrush System (can you tell I got some refills finally?) and airbrushed a wisp of color over the gown. Notice I said a *wisp*....just a few short bursts of color and that's it, you don't want to over do it. Easy does it, girls.
And here's my finished cards...I really wanted to keep these for myself! I cut and embossed the main image with a Spellbinders Rectangle Die Template and then layered that onto another Scalloped Spellbinders Rectangle. I kept both layers the same cream color and played up the beautiful tone on tone textures.
I added a Papertrey sentiment from the Simple Little Things set(anniversary set from last year, no longer for purchase), some pearls, lace trim, and some crushed velvet ribbon (May Arts from Archivers) and some glitter on the veil and skirt bottom. I think the cards evoke the feel that parts of the bride's gown is right there on the card.
I fancied up the inside of the cards too with another Papertrey sentiment from the Simple Little Things set and a colored vine image from Karen Lockhart's Rose Border stamp. I dotted the flowers and leaves with a little dab of Copic markers and then used my Copic Colorless Blender (0) to wash out the color.
Very pretty indeed for the pretty bride to be.

Hearts on a vine wedding cards....

It's gonna be a week full of wedding cards on the blogaroonie. I have a teacher friend that needed 10 shower and 10 wedding cards so I've been busy. All of her daughters' friends are at that marrying age, I can remember those days well. It seemed that you were buying a present and going to showers and weddings left and right. It was such a fun and exciting time. When I went to look for wedding stamps, my stash did not scream out *Here I am!*. It seems that we tend to collect more stamps that are versatile in nature like flowers, backgrounds and images that can be used for everyday cards. While I've got some very wedding specific cards coming up this week, today I thought outside the box.
I reached for Pine's Beyond Basic Borders set to create a less formal set of cards that could be used for wedding showers or actual wedding cards. By stamping the vine and adding in some stamped and punched hearts from Heart Prints, I was able to evoke the feeling of love and happiness just blooming all over the place.
For my sentiments, I paired together *best wishes* from Beyond Basic Borders and *now & forever* from Simple Little Things to create a custom wedding sentiment. The insides of the cards read *congratulations*. I also added some sparkly sequins to the vine for a little wedding bling-bling.

So as you're creating those cards for specific events, think outside the box...use what you have...get creative. You can do it! I can't tell you how happy I was to get out Heart Prints again...and here you thought that set was just for Valentine's Day projects. Stay tuned for more wedding cards this week....tis the season!
