Today I have some cards to show you that were inspired by the tulips on the photo above. I always like to research flowers to get some color ideas and maybe some real life photos that show good shading and highlights. I'll be using a stamp set from JustRite called Breath of Spring for the tulips and the sentiment is from Seeds of Kindness.I knew I wanted to color my tulips yellow so I dug around in my stash for some yellow patterned paper. I found this fun polka dot paper and some green and blue patterned paper that had tulips on it. Both are from Cosmo Cricket, some of my favorite papers. I colored my images with Copic Sketch markers to coordinate with the papers. I've been using my corner round on a lot of my focal images lately. Love that soft look.
Here are a few of my finished cards. I love the simple look.......but with a few added details.
Like the punched circles with the sentiments, the glitter, the rounded corners, and the scallop edge strip of paper...all add great detail.
Here's the sketch I followed. You'll see it again soon on another project. Very simple but a nice way to add two or more patterned papers without being overwhelming.
Here's my Copic Sketch colors I used.
So are you ready for Spring? I definitely am. I'm longing for green grass, warmer weather, sunshine...........and pretty flowers!!!

Now you're talkin, sister! Tulips. Ahhhh, can Spring be too far away?? (uh, yeah, I guess it can be...) Absolutely love this card, Mish. As always! I'm going to enjoy the long weekend and stamp my little heart out!

Love it! Soo cute! I have that Cosmo Cricte paper too, and love it also. I just might have to make a card using the paper and your sketch. Thanks for the inspiration. :D
I feel guilty when you talk about longing for Spring. It is predicted to be 80 degrees in Southern California on Monday. Come visit!! Anyway, I love this card and I love how you can put patterned papers together so well. Not a gift of mine. I have to buy paper pads so I know what goes together. UGH! Thanks for sharing. I love this card. Love the colors. Wishing you some Spring time weather very soon!
I bought 2 bunches of tulips this afternoon, red and white. Outside there is still snow, unusual for The Netherlands, so I get to enjoy my springflowers inside.
Lovely cards.
Eveline.
Thanks for sharing your sketch and your inspiration. Seeing the creative mind at work is inspiring, and I agree that you can match papers like no one else.
Hi Michelle,
Sorry I didn't see where I could ask you a question so I'm posting here. I want to buy some copics and don't know what to start with. I use all different products but usually PTI these days. I see they have them in groups to match their colors is that the way to go but what about skin tones and hair - any suggestion is helpful. Thanks.
This card is truely stunning! I stumbled across your blog today and I am so glad I did. I love all the tutorials and tips! I am now a follower and hope to "visit" often.

I am SERIOUSLY contemplating buying some Copics but am afraid of the large investment. If I'm not ever planning on using the airbrush system, do you think I could get away with Ciaos instead of sketch?
Your cards are soooo cute! I LOVE your colors and coloring. I think the glitter adds the perfect touch. I also LOVE flowers and my favorite is the peony, I hope that one is included in your set, a gal can hope right? TFS.
Love the sketches you share, they immediately go into my sketch book and when I get a chance, I always try my hand at them:
