Cards from Project Life leftovers....

Edited for questions: My card sizes today are A2, half sheet of 8.5 x 11 cardstock.

Back today with some cards I made from my the leftover products from my last week of Project Life. Just a nice handful to add to my stash. Both sets of cards use Take Note for the circle focal point piece. The base cardstock for all cards is Rustic White. I used Dainty Doilies on these first cards under the layered embellishments. From my stash of Project Life leftovers I used some October Afternoon Flower Sack elements, Washi Tape, and patterned paper.
Lately I've been using these grid labels on my Project Life pages for journaling. They've come in really handy so I thought I would use them on my cards today too. Here I stamped my sentiment from Tag-its #12 twice and then cut the label in half.
I used half a label on each card for an added embellishment at the bottom. I love using grid & graph papers lately so this adds a fun twist. Look for these labels in a new shop kit hopefully coming this week.
I also had fun using my new file folder label punch from Jenni Bowlin. Perfect for all of us office supply lovers!
My next set of cards also uses Take Note + I added a sentiment from Script Sentiments. The heart and butterfly accents are more of the OA Flower Sack embellishments. The stamp at the bottom is an old, old Stampin' Up! stamp.
I also had fun using my Studio Calico mask & Mister Huey spray ink on these cards. A strip of Washi tape adds a fun layer to my cards without adding a lot of bulk. This floral tape is from 2Peas.
And that's it for me today. I'm noticing that I have zero manly cards in my stash for get well or birthdays. Definitely need to add those to my stamping to-do list. :)

Today:
Finishing up a Project Life insert for Week 4, working on some fun kits for the shop.....and dealing with my Josey girl who got a mild concussion at this week's basketball game. We took her in to get checked out yesterday and all is okay. A lingering headache is her biggest symptom. Man, it feels like forever since I've had a full day to work. Heading there right now. Have a great day everyone!

Project Life Week of May 15-21, 2011

Project Life Week of May 15-21, 2011

I've recently caught up on 8 weeks of my Project Life. Still lots to work on but I have high hopes of being all caught by the time 2012 rolls around. I'm still loving this method of scrapbooking. Here's a spread from earlier this summer.
For this spread I used lots of pieces from the Simple-Stories, 100 Days of Summer line. Here's the left page.
Here's the right page. Sorry about that sticky note...I'm planning to add newspaper clippings and some inserted page protectors that show lots of photos from the tornado that hit just 15 miles from our home this summer. All of the weeks that I plan to add more *stuff* to have sticky notes + plain page protectors that are holding photos, collected items, etc.
I also added in my birthday cards from this year. I remember seeing sweet cards from when I was a child so I love the thought of looking at card designs years down the road.
Here I used a chipboard cloud from Studio Calico, a Large White Tag, a folded journaling card from the Amber Project Life kit and a little sticky note(with arrow) from my Smash book goodies.
Here I used a striped paper clip with flag from the Smash Book collection (K & Company). I also used a Small White Tag tied to a gift tag with baker's twine.
I tried the new Days of the Week stamp by Jenni Bowlin. I thought these would be little. Oh no, they're huge....like 1" high by 3" wide. But I love them. On the right card, I used a little sticky note from Studio Calico. I think there's 3 styles of these...love them all. Tip: If you want to add vintage typewriter journaling like I did, insert a piece of copy paper in your typewriter.....then adhere the sticky note. This helps it from getting torn if you were to wind it through the typewriter.
And here's a few cards I made from the leftovers. I used stamps from Hero Arts and Papertrey Ink. Patterned papers are from Simple-Stories. Stamping was done on Project Life journaling cards. I love the idea of using up the scraps to make a few cards to add to my stash.
I'm really thrilled to see all the buzz about everyone starting Project Life in 2012. Good for you! And great for me because I get to see more Project Life layouts. :) Be prepared...I've got 7 weeks of Project Life layouts ready to share.

Note: As I look back at this layout, I realized that I must have had a mild case of dyslexia this scrapbooking session because all my numbers on the date stamps are jumbled. Oh well, we get the drift. ;)

Mish Mash Monday....Jordy is awesome + a card

Edit: Soup recipe is here. Sandwich recipe here.

Happy Monday. Did you think I forgot about Mish Mash Monday? Well...I kinda did. Not really but the reds had orthodontist appointments today so my time was occupied as the taxi driver.

Volleyball....Both the girls had volleyball tournaments this weekend. Way far apart so we could only make it to one event. We went to Jordan's tournament since it was her last junior high volleyball event. She played awesome. There were several matches where Jordan got up to 8 or 9 serves in a row before the team lost the volley. Here she is surrounded by her coach and teammates at a time out the other team took to break her serve. What a joy it is a parent to see your child happy out there on the court. Way to go Jordo!
Fall...A cold front is coming through Kansas this week and we may even have freezing temperatures. Just in time, I fixed soup & sandwiches for the family we had visiting this weekend. I'm definitely not ready for the cold temperatures. If it gets below 50 degrees, it's Winter to me. However, I do like what Winter brings....warm, toasty fires + soft quilts + lots of books to catch up on, etc.
Crafting....Let's not forget the crafting, card making + scrapbooking. I've been having fun making cards from leftover products from my Project Life pages. Today's samplings are from this week's Project Life. Click the *leftovers* label at the end of this post for more cards made from PL leftover supplies.

How about a little tutorial today to get the creative juices flowing? These are a few of my leftover supplies + I grabbed a few of the folded journaling cards from my Project Life Amber kit. Jordan still needs to send out thank you notes for her birthday presents so I decided to create 3 cards for her friends that came to her b-day party.
First, fold the cards in half and add strips of patterned paper to the card fronts. Using leftover Studio Calico Fabrips, cut little flags. Punch circles from leftover patterned paper and staple on Studio Calico chipboard butterflies. These were a new item that got stacked on top of my leftover supplies.
Stamp sentiments on card fronts. I used Papertrey's Say It With Style and Think Big Favorites #1.
Adhere the fabric flags under the circles. Adhere circles with pop dots to nestle inside the rounded tops of the journaling cards. And presto, a cute little set of cards.
For envelopes, use Papertrey's A2 Rustic White envelopes cut down to 3-1/2" wide. Adhere a strip of patterned paper that matches each card to the front. Stitch down the side to create a small envelope. Seal as usual.
Fun, colorful, fast. That's what it's all about. Enjoy!
Well, I'm off to greet Jordan after school. Now that volleyball is over, she has just a few days off before basketball starts on Thursday. Not much time but I know she'll enjoy playing with her iPad, getting homework done early and just relaxing. Maybe we'll sew on her quilt a little too. :) Thanks for stopping by!

birthday cards from scraps...

Hi there. Amidst all of the crazy fun of having my sister & nephew here since Wednesday and having 6 girls here for a birthday party this weekend, I managed to make a few cards this morning while everyone was occupied.

It's pretty easy to throw a few cards together if you just use up the scraps from a scrapbooking project. I've decided that I'm going to make a few cards from each of my weekly Project Life scraps. If you're a scrapbooker, you definitely need to try this. You'll have a great stash of cards in no time.

For my cards, I already had out the scraps of paper, a few Studio Calico chipboard butterflies + the little journaling sticky notes from this Project Life spread. I cut out a few more flowers from the Basic Grey paper too. To complete my cards, I grabbed my Birthday Bash Sentiments from Papertrey, some Rustic White cardstock, some black ink, rhinestones, Washi tape and black & white twine. I also used the card in the photo below as my inspiration piece. Having a sample card to look at or a cards sketch makes the work go even faster.
And here are my completed cards. So easy to assemble because most of the products were already out. These are not my normal colors but I think they'll make great birthday cards for the girls' teenage friends. Did I tell you I have TWO teenagers now? Good times, indeed.
Love these big & bold flowers that I cut from the Basic Grey paper.
The birthday sentiments were stamped on the round sticky notes + directly onto my base layer of patterned papers. A little Washi tape, some machine stitching + baker's twine tied up with the chipboard butterflies = some fun and easy cards.
Who knows, maybe I'll make this a regular feature here on the blog. It's sure an easy way to get a few cards cranked out. Here's a link to some previous cards I made from leftovers. And hey, did you do anything fun for World Card Making Day???? I'd love to hear.

This week:

Holiday Journal Mini Album Kits.....I'll be announcing the date that the remaining kits will be up for sale in the shop. Plus hopefully I'll be able to post a few photos of some updated items that will be in the kits.

Halloween treat packaging kits.....coming to the shop later this week. Look for a blog post for sample projects. Black + white striped pocket sacks, Elle's Studio goodness, twine, homemade goodness.......you won't want to miss these!

Cards from Project Life Leftovers....

Hey guys. Follow along with me. :) For this month's Papertrey release, I really loved this card from this post. The layout was linear and graphic + it was a great way to use up small bits and pieces of scraps.
So I made this sketch so that I could refer to it often.
Then I made these cards + tags from all my Project Life leftovers that were scattered about my work table. The tags will be used for Etsy orders and were made from my Small Gray Parcel Tags + some fun, old fashioned yarn.
This card uses scraps from Sassafras + items from my Studio Calico kits + a typewriter image from Hero Arts + baker's twine + a White Metal Rim Tag. Love the neutral, earth tone colors.
And do you have lots of tiny alphabet stickers? I know you do. Here I stitched on some letters that I know I'll rarely use. It's a fun way to add some type to projects + it uses up leftover product.
This card features more from my Studio Calico kits + an embellished Small White Tag + an Amy Tangerine sticker from American Crafts. That sticker book is jam packed with stickers. My favorite new trick is to stitch down the white tags and then staple the strings down with my Tiny Tim stapler.
More baker's twine + Amy Tangerine fabric paper in the cool chevron pattern + some mistable fabric + vintage lace from my stash. All stitched down. A few sprinklings of Mister Huey on each card and these were done in a flash.
Two new cards for my stash. I think I'll try to make a few cards each time I wrap up a Project Life layout. It's a good plan. Hope you give it a try.
Sooo, tell me. How is your Project Life coming along? Are you caught up? (ya right).....are you working to get caught up (raises hand).....are you loving it (that's me).....or are you just now thinking about starting Project Life (order a new kit, they're coming soon, you'll love it).

Other news: All orders placed from Sunday up to yesterday from my Etsy shop were shipped yesterday. Wow, thank you for your orders. I'll be re-stocking the fun bags soon.

Halloween Treat Kits: Look for some fun Halloween treat kits in the shop soon. I'll be using some brand new sacks + some new Elle's Studio Halloween goodies.

Holiday Mini Album pre-orders: Look for a blog post yet this week. I'll be showing a sneak peek of items from the album, including pretty papers, handmade items + more. Pre-orders will start this week.
