Feeling blessed.....

I want my blog friends to know that I may be absent from my blogging a bit here and there.  Last Friday my girls were in a roll over car accident on the way to school.  Jordan called me shortly after the girls left home for school and very calmly told me that they were okay but had went off into the ditch.  Upon my arrival to the scene of the accident I saw this and Josey was covered in blood....

My heart just sank but I knew that I had been blessed this day.  A mother of the girls' classmate came upon the scene and took care of my girls until I arrived.  She had them standing and waiting to see me so that I would know my girls were alive.  The girls hit some black ice, fish tailed and rolled their Trailblazer at least twice into a steep ditch and landed on a fence in a field.  Please take this as a reminder that seat belts save lives and that many accidents happen close to home.  Please buckle up.

As I was driving my girls to the emergency room, my dad called and said that my mom was sick and something was wrong.  He had called the ambulance to take her to the emergency room also.  So we spent all day Friday with my mom and my girls in the ER.  The girls had every x-ray and scan done to make sure there were no broken bones or internal bleeding.  They ended up with severe whiplash from the seat belts, a concussion, black eye, stitches on her hand and a ripped fingernail for Josey. Lots of bruises, bumps and very sore bodies for both girls.  My mom was treated for dehydration from some medicine she was recently prescribed.

The girls and my mom were released Friday afternoon. They will all be fine but my girls are dealing with some expected emotional issues.  It's been a rough few days but I feel we had an angel watching over my family on this horrible day.  We are so thankful that my girls and my mom are okay.  Time will heal the physical wounds and hopefully with lots of hugs and love and chats the emotional parts will heal too.

The girls are back at school with the loving care of our wonderful school counselor/family friend.  It's good for them to be back with friends and continue their normal activities.  Spring Break is coming up and it's a short week this week.  We're looking forward to the time off and just relaxing around the house.

I have some projects to share that I've already had completed so I'll pop up on the blog when I can.  Otherwise it will be hit and miss as I take this time to be with my family.

I had definitely noticed your absence online for a few days...I'm sorry it was due to these events, but so glad you were blessed with amazing outcomes! I can only imagine how terrifying it must of been to come onto the scene and see that vehicle!

So glad that everyone is ok. As a mum of 3 kids driving on the Kansas roads I dread every time there is ice and snow. Hoping your family make a speedy recovery and give them some extra hugs from your blogging friends xx

OMG, what a story I read here. Goosebumbs all over. How many angels can a family have on such a horrible day. I am so glad for all of you, that you're all recovering already, although the physical part can take a long time. Take good care of yourself, the girls and your mum and dad, because family is realy all that matters after such a nightmare.

I saw that picture and my heart sank!!!! So relieved that your girls are okay. Glad that God protected them the way He did. In one instant all the other things can fade quickly in the background as you realize what is truly important. I'll be praying for your girls as well as thanking God that they are ok. And big hugs for you, too, momma! Take all the time that you need.

So pleased your girls are ok this is every mothers nightmare once their kids start driving. Here in Australia seat belts are compulsory and halved the road toll when the law was brought in.

Wow, so glad to hear they are going to be ok! My husband had a similar accident last week and the tow truck driver was amazed that he walked away from the truck. So, this picture immediately brought a knot to my stomach, but was relieved to hear they are ok. These are the times we know we are blessed and that God is watching over us! Praying for your family and glad that you are taking the time you need to help your girls heal! Hugs to you and your family!

Thank you Lord for giving Michelle's family a second "free-throw in the game of life. We know you still have plans for them to fulfill . Sometimes I think we miss an accident because we made a turn a block before we were supposed to, and we don't ever realize our blessings, but this day definetly rates as a miracle. Thank you for letting us know the great outcome of such an unimaginable day". Hopefully your winter is over for this year. It was 88 in northern part of TX today.

My Goodness! Thank you GOD! You and yours will be in my prayers! My daughter attends Arapahoe HS where the shooting occurred on 12/13/13 Almost 3 months later and these kiddos are still suffering. Lots of outbursts and panic attacks. Things continue to get better, please just know the aftermath takes a long time. Fear is a difficult emotion to deal with and try to get rid of. It is very different than grief, anger, sorrow etc. Our kids are still jumping out of their skin when a book is dropped. Lots of time and love will be much needed in the months to come! Lots of prayers and hugs headed your way for you and yours!!

What a frightful experience for them and for you and your whole family.

Thank goodness they had guardian angels watching over them (same thing with your Mom).

Things like this are horrible, but also have a silver lining of helping to remind us how fragile life is and to take advantage of the time we have together.

HUGS to y'all! ♥

I'm so happy that your girls and mother are safe and sound. What a tramatic experience for all of you. Both of my 18 year old granddaughters were in separate accidents early on in their driving "careers." They weren't hurt, but as scary as it was for them, it's been a blessing in disguise. It's made them much more cautious while driving. I hope your cute daughters and mother are feeling better soon.

I am so grateful everyone is ok. I will send a prayer for your daughters and your mother tonight in my prayers. My heart fell when I clicked onto your blog and saw the picture of the car. Take as much time as you need away from the blog, we will all be here. Diana F.

Can't image what you must have thought seeing that car! I am glad both of the girls were wearing their seat belts and that they were in an SUV - both of those things saved them!!!

Jennifer Scull said...

oh my gosh, my heart is in my throat as I see the photo and read your post. please please give those girls a big hug from me, someone they have no idea exists, but reads about their exploits. add another for your mom. angels were most certainly surrounding your entire family. I am so thankful everyone is okay.

cars can be replaced. people can't. you take as much time with your family as you need. black ice is terrifying.

prayers for all of you as you go through each day.

So glad they are ok! Seat belts DO save lives and am glad that your teens wore them as most think they are lame. Maybe they will encourage their peers that it's cool to wear them to save a life. Hope your mom and girls heal quick.

Praise God for his protection over your girls and your mom. Anywhere that I've lived that had black ice, snow, all of that stuff, you name it, I always had an SUV always. They save lives. If they were in a little car, it might have been a different story so please get them another SUV.

I will pray for your precious reds and your mom, and you and your husband too since I know you're both shaken up.

Take this time or any time that you're needed to be with your family Mish. Time is precious.

Hugs and blessings to all of you.
