butterfly tag with sack..

TGIF. Hi there. Man, it's been a busy week. I am preparing for the biggest garage sale that we've ever had. I decided time to tackle the play room and purge toys from the girls' littler days. I've had a very hard time of it because each little toy brings back so many memories. And with Josey graduating from 8th grade this year, it's even harder because my little girls are growing up so much. My dear husband has taken pity on me and has dedicated an area of the attic for us to store our favorite toys. We're keeping way too many, I know, but perhaps in a few years we can go through the items again and the emotional attachment will have lessened.

For today I have a gift sack and tag ensemble that I made with one of my button cards.
I used brown paper sacks from my shop and attached the button card to a large manila tag that has been layered with old sheet music. A glittered small clothespin attaches the layered tag to the sack. A layered butterfly with more of the sheet music finishes off the button card.
Hope you enjoy! Back to sorting + pricing + loading all the junk up. I will be soooooo happy when this stuff is out of my house! Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi! Love the gift sack! Your projects always appeal to me.

As for cleaning out, I heard an organizational therapist say not to handle the items you need to get rid of. By handling them you stir up emotions which makes it difficult to let the items go. Maybe that is why it is easier for other people to get rid of your items. Have you thought about photographing the toys and document them in your scrapbooks?

Hi Mish,
I can so totally identify with your dilemma about getting rid of your girls toys. I only had one son and luckily I saved some of his favorite toys. Because he had two boys and they loved playing with his toys when they came to my house. Even though it may seem a long way off, you will be amazed at how fast time flys and maybe some day you will have granddaughters that will love those special toys.

Hi Mish, I read your blog EVERY day...and I am a Grandma of six, I saved precious toys and cribs and high chairs and you know what? I am glad I did! Like anonymous said, the time flies and before you know it your girls are married and having babies...you will SOOOO appreciate keeping those special 'memory' toys and sharing them with new bundles of joy in your life...God bless your husband for giving you space in the attic for them!

I was going to comment about saving some of the sentimental toys for grandkids too. My 2 sons love going to my mom's house and playing with my old toys. So if you have room in the attic I say don't feel bad for saving it. Unfortunately for me, I do daycare so most of my toys won't last long enough for my grandkids to play with.
BTW love the gift sack.

Hello there! Love your gift sack....your projects are always so sweet! TFS
As for the cleaning.....purging....I can totally identify! As my youngest prepares to graduate high school I am thinking of the same things....after they leave there things that they played with are apart of them that I get to keep even for awhile. Makes them leaving not quite sooo hard! I like LindaC's idea......photograph them!

Love your tag and sack. So cute! Good luck on your garage sale. It is a lot of work and getting rid of certain things are hard to let go of because of all the memories they bring to mind. You are right about the things you have decided to keep now may not be so important 5 or 10 years down the road or you will just be ready to let go.

Lovely gift sack...
love the music background.
And I'm the same way...
so hard to part with toys that bring so many memories of their childhoods.
But there's room in the attic...
and someday...
I hope that they become parents so my reasoning is that it would fabulous to pass some of the toys down to their children.
Nothing wrong with holding onto some memories.

Hello,

I did the same thing, stored some toys and sold the rest, and some of the ones that got sold I wish I had kept. Oh well.

I was wondering what fabric that is under the butterfly? Or is it paper? so cute

Really Mish, hold on to them if you have the room. You'll be so glad you did! You seem to cherish those things of the past. Thanks for sharing!
