Tiny Treats: Birthday

Welcome to another fun group post from the Papertrey Design Team. This month it's all about the birthdays. Each member of the Design Team has selected a tag and has a fun themed post for you. I chose a tag with a cute little truck on it so I decided to go with a farm theme. It has long been a dream of mine to own an old, green Chevy truck. Some day.....I can dream.

But I do have one of these....a Fisher Price Family Farm. Minus the silo. How about you? If you had one of these growing up, I know you loved that all the farm animals and people fit inside the barn. You know that the chickens liked to sleep up in the hay loft and sit on the fence. And the best part, you know that when you opened the barn doors, you heard a cow moo-ing. I still love to reach in and make that moo-ing sound go off. Such good memories.

So how about digging out that old farm and using it as a center piece for a child's birthday party? The kids will love it because it's interactive. The parents will love it because you know there will be a few in the bunch that had this very same farm. Good times to come. Good memories to hang on to.
You could easily tuck little candies in the wagons and little feed trough. For little party favors, how about some farm fancied animal cracker boxes? I know these are circus animal cookies in the boxes but the kids won't care. And how about a cute card for the birthday boy or girl?
Using the truck stamp and coordinating sentiment, I stamped the image, colored it with Copic markers and punched it out with a 1.75" circle punch. (Zoom in on the view below to see a close up of all the fun details and background).
These little banner dies from the Banner Builder Collection pinned to the top of the card really bring out that farm fresh feeling. Reminds me of a county fair.....or an old quilt hanging out on the clothesline...or a good ol' tag sale. I used glue dots to attach Mini Clothespins to the card front. Notice that the background has been impressed with the new By the Numbers Impression Plate coming out this month.
Love the little images in the new Tiny Treats: Birthday set designed by Nichole. Love the polka dot background and the big label die. I also love the sentiments from Nichole's new set called Big Birthday Wishes. It looks great embossed with red embossing powder. The bottom of the creamy layer was also cut with Edger die.
For the little treat favors, I wrapped the animal cracker boxes with paper from Beautiful Blooms. Ripe Avocado Ribbon, Red Baker's Twine and a little Wrinkle Ribbon finish off the box. A clothespin clipped on ties in with the card theme.
So cute and adorable. These would be great stacked in a big toy truck or tractor. Oh how I am wishing I had someone to plan this little farm party for. We would go on a hay rack ride, visit my dad's farm animals and maybe do a little scrapbook page featuring a photo shoot with a baby calf. Don't have a big party coming up? There's no reason you couldn't do something simple like this for a little play group date too. Set up little play areas with different farms and animals....the kiddos would love it with their little animal cracker snackies.
Wanna see more birthday fun? Check out the rest of the Design Team's blogs. Can't wait to see what they've got cookin' this month. Thanks for stopping by!

oh what fun. Unfortunately a lot of our animals either went missing or were found as multiple amputees as our dog chewed their legs off. Still have the surviving livestock and farm though it was one of my son's favorite toys too.

Very cute! I had to stop and comment because that Fisher Price family farmhouse just made me smile and brought back great childhood memories! :)

I used to have that barn too! I remember it being in the closet that held the waterheater of my grandparent's house. I loved playing with it. Then my nephew played with it. I think my uncle got rid of it when my grandmother died.

As a 35 year old, I still wince when I hear about vintage toys, because in my mind, they're not vintage!!! I wanted to share something that I saw and you were the first person that came to mind. I think you could easily hint to your family or PTI family you'd like this gift for Valentine's Day. Lisa Leonard makes silver jewelry, and she makes a mason jar necklace filled with hearts. Yes, it's true! Here it is: http://www.lisaleonardonline.com/my-treasure-necklace-P215C8.aspx Happy Early Valentine's Day!

Such cuteness!! This would be a fantastic birthday theme. I had the school house and my brother had the farm. We had so much fun! I love today's projects. Your fresh yet classic style can't be beat. Have a great day!

Ha Ha, still have that barn and the silo. My grandchildren drag it out every now and then. And I just love the truck. I was embarrassed to have my dad drive me around in a 1952 blue Chevy pickup. He'll be 87 his next birthday---gotta have this stamp for a card for him. Thanks for the post.

Love all of these projects. I still have the barn, complete with the silo and all of the critters, fence, etc. I also saved the airport, house, and many others. These toys are the first things our soon to be 4 year old Grandson plays with when he comes over.

Adorable! Beautiful color scheme, and I love that little pennant at the top.
And I remember that barn! Fun times with those little people! Remember how little the people used to be? Today they'd be considered choking hazards!

The card is beautiful! I have always wanted an old chevy truck too - but mine will be red. :) I love the stamp! Adorable! And the barn - wow that was a memory rush. I had not thought about that toy in a long, long time. We loved it! Wish we still had it!!! I also checked out the mason jar necklace that melissa mentioned in her comment - it is so cute too! Have a great day!

Great idea! You've got my mind churning now with the thought of the Fisher Price zoo or the Fisher Prise airport theme! (luggage rack turned candy holder? Dollar store planes for the goody bag?) Thank you for sharing!

Mish, you really knocked this one out of the park (I wish I had a farm analogy, I should being a Kansas farm girl). I LOVE all of your ideas and the little barn. My 3 boys played with that as well. My Dad had that truck, in red!
You are amazing
Thanks for msharing

Ever since I saw the 38 Special
video, What If I'd Been the One..., when I was much younger,
I have dreamed of one of these trucks. Red...
My Grandaddy actually had a blue one when I was a kid...
He'd had it for YEARS and it still ran...
was so disappointed my Daddy didn't hang onto it after my Grandaddy died.
And Sweet Hubby even found me one...with a LOT of work to be done...at a great price, but we were expecting our 3rd child and I just couldn't justify spending the money at the time.
Not with diapers on the horizon...
and knowing it wouldn't fit 3 car seats...
Now with # 4 here and he's going on 5...
I really could use that "escape vehicle" sometimes. :)
Loved your Farm Party...
looks like it was so much fun...
and like you HAD fun doing it!
Thanks for the memories...

Mish - you are so creative. What a fun party idea. My kids are grown, but we are expecting our first grandchild. And since we live on a little farmette, this will be something I will file away for future use. Now I just have to remember if I saved the FP barn!

VERY cute Mish! My brother and I shared one of those little barns and I wouldn't be one bit surprised if my sweet Mama didn't still have it! LOL! I can remember my boys playing with the little animals at Mama's house that's for sure! Have a lovely day girlie! HUGS!

Diane Jaquay said...

How FUN is this!!! Like many others have said, seeing that red barn brought back so many memories. The FP barn came after my time, but I remember my baby brother and sisters playing with it, and my own children had one. Love the idea of dressing up the boxes of animal crackers and stacking them in toy truck! Thanks for sharing this wonderful post Mish :)

I love that farm...they still make one but it's not the same. Thanks so much for helping to twist my arm...I was going to pass on this set but I have been persuaded by all the cuteness.

I can hear a cacophony of barnyard sounds as the animals cheer for you, Michelle. They know that every person who has one of these sets tucked away will be pulling it out for their next party. This post (and all it includes) is brilliant.

I can't believe you showed the farm! My kids played with it and now my 3-yr old grandson loves it. I still have the dog, pig, tractor, chicken, pig and I even held on to the airport, schoolhouse, garage, airplane, firehouse and all the things that went with it!
My DIL reminded me that all the little pieces are recalled and I just said it's amazing my children survived to be adults with all the things we did wrong or dangers that they were exposed!

This a trip down memory lane. My kids had that farm toy...it's probably up in the attic. Should pull it out for their next birthday. I love the banner dies too.

Had to "buy the farm" lol today! Was on ebay all morning-it's all your fault but I got the whole set...Loved your projects to go with it. I am sure I will be buying the PTI Tiny Treats:Birthday next.

I loved that barn and can still hear the funny "moo" when the door opened. Such a clever idea for a party and I love the card.

My parents bought one of these barns 30 years ago when I had my first child. A year ago, my Mom gave it to me for my 2 year old Grandson. It's his favorite toy. We still have all the animals and family, although the sheep should probably be put out of his misery. I couldn't believe when I saw it on your blog today. I look at your blog EVERYDAY. It is one of my very, very favorites. To see this post of one of my most precious belongings was beyond heart warming.

I love the little truck stamp.I need to get that stamp. I remember play with that barn set when I was a child. And believe my mom still have it.

Love your post today! The farm party idea is terrific! As someone who grew up on the farm, today's post brought back so many memories as my kids had this FP barn in the late 70's. Funny how just tthis AM, my 3 yr old grandson took it off the shelf and played farm! He loves it. Cutest comment from him today was when getting the silo off the shelf, he wanted me to get the "lighthouse", too! Sweet! kids that don't have a farm background just don't know what they have missed as farm life was the best.

Absolutely adorable...'love it!
Yup, still have the barn and silo too...thanks for the memories!

Ohhh I had that! You have made my day Michelle! I also had a plastic green Tree house that popped open using a button on top. I just saw that the other day on someones craft blog.
Anyway back to more importabt things...he he. LOVE your colours and the little banners they're wonderful!!!

I totally bought my son that farm for Christmas. His is the newer version, but it's still essentially the same. He loves the noises!
What a cute idea...I could totally steal it for his 2nd birthday party.
