New Blog Feature....On The Shelf

TGIF friends. Hope your week was great...hope your weekend is even better! I am busy working on this month's Papertrey release so I don't have any new projects to share with you right now...however I do have something that I think you'll love.

For 2011 I have some new features that I'm adding to my blog. Along with my regular design team posts, you've seen that I'm adding in Project Life and more scrapbooking. I'm also going to be featuring my Ali Edwards' One Little Word soon. And today I have a new feature called On The Shelf. I am in the midst of reorganizing my work studio so some areas are actually photo worthy now.

On these two shelves, I am setting them aside for some product showcase so to speak. I like the visuals of products....serves as a reminder of what I have, what I want to use...and is totally inspiring to me. On the left is product I have pulled from my current stash. Items that I want to use, play around with, get my money's worth out of. On the right is an area that I'm saving for new product that enters the studio. Product that is all shiny, still in the package, longing to be used on a project.
So I thought you'd love this new feature called On The Shelf so you can see what's inspiring me right now. I'll add it as a separate label at the end of the post so you can see all the related posts in one spot. Just click on the label. Let's start with my left shelf of current product I have out. Please note: I will try to list where I got items from if I remember...otherwise, an Internet search might be your best best as to where to find the items.

Japanese Masking Tapes. I find these through Etsy and there are tons of these little guys. Love them to add little borders, journaling, taping on tags, sealing up packages. So cute. Vintage German Glass Glitter. A little pricey. Oh so shimmery and sparkly. Perfect on vintage projects.
All of my favorite glitters. Lots are Martha Stewart brand from Michael's. My every day, iridescent glitter is from Papertrey Ink.
Claudine Hellmuth Studio paints. These are thick and provide wonderful coverage. I'm itching to be more artsy with my projects this year. More collage. More layers. More paints with stamps. Ellen Hutson(link at left) has a wonderful selection of Claudine's products. And the paint brushes are awesome too. That tool is a wood grain tool. I have something very specific that I want to use that for.
Now I'll move to the shelf on the right. My shelf of new items. Never used. Calling my name. When a new year rolls around, I'm always itching for something besides Christmas. Something new. I always go on a little online shopping trip or make a special trip to Archiver's.

Mister Huey's Color Mists from Studio Calico. I got mine at Emma's Paperie (link at left). Love all the misting I've been seeing on the Studio Calico projects lately. Need to just play around with these. Get artsy and wonderfully messy.
This Studio Calico labels set that coordinates with the EK Success labels punch. Am loving the look of vintage labels lately. Great for little Etsy kits. I got the stamps at Emma's Paperie and the punch at Two Peas. Links in the left sidebar.
This set of flourish type stamps from Basic Grey. I got mine at Emma's Paperie. Another product that I bought for a very specific idea. I can picture exactly what I want to do in my head.
Ali Edwards stamps from Technique Tuesday. I got mine from Emma's Paperie during the 25% off sale a while ago. Love Ali's approach to scrapbooking......words + photos. Her handwriting is super cool too. Can't wait to use these on scrapbook layouts.
These fun pockets from KI Memories. Lots of colors and sizes. I like the ledger paper ones. I plan to use them on scrapbook layouts and use for additional photos and memorabilia. Accordion pockets and big patches of adhesive on the back. Nice. I got mine at Emma's Paperie.
And last but certainly not least loved...a handful of 12 x 12 papers. I think I like green. I was thinking of some mixy matchy combos for my One Little Word album. I pick a sheet or two from several different companies. It's the best way to get that mixy matchy look I love. I know there are a few from Studio Calico and Making Memories in the mix. All from Emma's Paperie.
And that's it. LOTS of goodies to use....and even more that's tucked away in drawers and on shelves. I'll keep updating once in a while if you like this feature. Whaddya think? Comments are the best way to show me you like something. :)

Note: Before you ask....my studio is not ready for a photo tour quite yet. I saw that some of you asked a few posts back when you saw me in there with my Project Life box. I'll put it on my list though. :)

Note: Shelving units and accessories are from Pottery Barn a few years back on clearance. So I don't think they're available anymore.

"on the shelf"...I like it! I find that the product itself is what inspires my creativity so it will be neat to see what things inspire you. I'm going to have to get some of those pockets! thanks for taking the time to share.

Love your new feature, Mish!!! I'm curious about the Claudine Hellmuth Studio paints--will do some investigating online this weekend. I'm in the mood to get out some of my flower sets, and would love to use some paint for the images. Love that look! Thanks for the intro to new products. Have a good weekend!

Michelle! What a fun feature and a new one. I love fresh ideas like this and I too have been pondering how to make my space more inspirational. I have a shelf I can do this with I think and I'm going to see about giving it a try! Your posts would serve as a nice reminder to me to refresh my own. TFS!

Hi Michelle,

I just wanted to take a minute to send you a heartfelt "thank you" for all of the creative inspiration that you provide! I came across the information you posted about the "One Little Word" class and I signed up immediately. I don't know if I would have found about the class if you hadn't mentioned it.

On the shelf...what a way to showcase more about what you do and for all of us to have, a seat at the table...hey, that might be an idea for your next feature!! I am so happy to hear you will be posting about OLW and PL as you personally have been the catalyst for many of us to begin these adventures. Your inspirations are right up there with Ali and Becky!
Thanks again!

What a fantastic idea! I know I tend to buy yummy new goodies, put them away, then forget half of what I have. It's an over-40 thing, I think! This is a great feature, too - fun to see into someone else's creative process!

What a great idea! I'd love to see what inspires you and fuels your creativity. Just wondering if you have a creative ritual to help set the stage for creating your masterpieces--like a fresh cup of coffee, or everything in order first. Is there a certain process you go through each day, a habitual way of doing things that just automatically puts you in a creative frame of mind.

Thanks for all you do. I'm inspired here every time I visit.

Of course...
you're going to get me in some serious trouble!
Oh well..
in for a penny...
in a for a pound.
I'm in trouble for so many different things at different times...
maybe I'll just confuse hubby so much he won't really know what I'm doing and I can sneak a few by him...

LOVE!, the idea! I need to set stuff out more so I will use it. I have a large sliding glass door in my craft room, so I don't use my walls much. I have my work table facing the doors, facing the light! Could you PLEASE come to Overland Park and help me re-arrange my space so it is more efficient! I did buy a Clip-it-up, and am VERY glad I did. My embellishments are more in view now, but I could use some serious help!
Thanks for sharing your ideas!

Thanks for sharing, Great idea always fun to peep, and fun to find new products and places to order them. In our rural area we are VERY LIMITED, and online is quick.
