Copic Fun!!

How about a little Copic fun today? First I have a fun new card to show you, then I have some Copic prizes to talk about. Let's get to the card first. Today I've used Karen Lockhart's new Candy Wreath stamp to create a whimsical holiday card. This image is chock full of wrapped peppermint candies. I colored the candy stripes with a Copic Sketch R29 red color and then finished up the twisted wrappers with a Copic Sketch BG11 color. To make the candies shiney, I added Ranger Glossy Accents. My image is cut and layered with Spellbinders Square and Scalloped Square Nesties die templates.
For some fun finishing touches, I cut Papertrey Rustic Snowflake patterned paper into strips and adhered them to my card front at a diagonal....keeping with my peppermint stripes theme. Finally, I took my same R29 Sketch marker and drew a red line down a long strip of white satin ribbon. It looks just like peppermint candy, don't you think? Love that look!
Now for the prizes. Copic has added some new regional certification instructors and is celebrating by giving away prizes on each of the blogs listed below!
Winner gets their choice of either an ABS-1 or any 12 Sketch Colors.
Please leave us a comment letting us know either how you use Copics/which Copic products you use/why you love them or why you wish you had Copics. One winner will be chosen randomly from each blog. In addition, Copic will be reading through the comments as well. From those comments, a few other winners will be selected based on a testimonial that we really like. That person will be contacted to use their story for our CHA booth and they would then be given an equal prize to the random winners. Make your comments good! There will probably be 2 or 3 winners chosen total. These will not be announced right away. The drawing begins on Wednesday, November 11, and ends on Saturday, November 14 at 9pm, CST. Good luck!

You can enter for the prizes by visiting and leaving comments at the following blogs:
me......right here :)

Note: If you left comments on my previous Candy Bar Wrapper post, I will make sure that those get to Marianne also. :)

Congrat's to you, your adorable, talented and will do very well with the Copic's Team.

I resisted Copic's for so long then I bought 25 in a Ebay auction and the 'Obsession' started. I started playing with these and begged everyone I knew for images I could color. That's when I realized you need a special ink for the Copic's images but that didn't stop me I continued coloring and following Marianne's blog. I took certification classes in April just a few weeks after major back surgery. I learned so much in that class just fulfilling my obsession even farther. I now have 169 colors in Sketch, Ciao, Original and I even have one in Wide. I dedicate at least one hour a day to Copic's coloring, blending and technique'. I may not be the best but I love coloring with Copic's and guarentee once you work with them for a while you'll feel the obsession also, I cannot endorse Copic's enough, its the best thing to hit the Craft world.
God Bless,
Jeanine

That card is super cute! Love the candy wreath!

Now for the draw. I use my Copics markers to color my stamps. I love using digital stamps and found that when using a copy printer the ink doesn't bleed.

C is for Colour - and there are so MANY colours in the Copic lines.
O is for Outstanding quality and richness of the colours.

C is for (you guessed it) COPIC - yay Copic!

It took me a long time to fall in love with my Copics but after a lot of practice, I started to get the results I was looking for. They are so easy to use once you figure out how to use them. The thing I like the best about them is that there is no streaking when you color. I have a mixture of Original, Ciao, and Sketch markers and find that I like all three types. I would love to try the airbrush system out!

I think you are amazingly talented and love whenever you post a new image colored with Copics!
I would love to try the coloring techniques out for myself but haven't yet been able to afford any Copics. Thanks for the chance to win some!

I have stamped for years and the copic markers are the 1st time I really wanted get out and color with them all the time. The color is so sharp and the shading you can do looks great. A class is a great place to learn how to use them and to learn different techniques. I am sure I am not done learning and having fun with the copic markers.

I love the look of things colored with Copics. I don't have any...YET! I'm hoping Santa will bring them to me this year!

Copic markers bring back my childhood and the joys of coloring. The sketch markers are a reach away on my craft table. I love how the vibrant colors bring my stamped images to life. Copic markers make it easy to blend and shadow, making me look like an artist! The airbrush system is so easy to use and I love the effects I can create with this tool. Copic markers have been a great investment. I am steadily building my collection and exploring the artistic possibilities with these one of a kind tools.

Mish, your blog is on my must-visit list as you are a neverending source of inspiration. This peppermint candy card is just another brilliant example of your creative genius! Thank you!

Whenever I see a card on a blog that really jumps out at me the thing that I notice first is the coloring. This coloring is always done with Copics and I marvel at the richness and vibrancy of the colors. It's as if I can reach out and touch the image on my computer screen. I also love the blending and shading capability--no streaks! I don't own any Copics yet but they are on my wish list and I look forward to owning a set to create with as well as taking a class to learn how to use them to their fullest potential.

It is because of Debbie Olson that I am a Copic lover. I owned a bunch and decided that they just weren't the marker that everyone said they were. I posted on a forum about my dislike of them and Debbie responded very kindly and told me to give them a chance and it took practice. I emailed Debbie several times with questions and she very kindly answered all my questions and every single email I sent her.

I had decided that I was going to sell my markers on an auction site because I just wasn't getting the hang of them. I finally took a class at a local rubber stamp store and it literally changed my stamping life. The woman teacher was so thorough with instructing us about how they work differently from other "typical" markers.

I am so glad that I hung in there and learned how to use them. They are the best thing out there. I am so pleased now with the results that I get with the markers that I have.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Copic Ciao’s. I was introduced to them my by dear friend Kathy one month ago. She MADE me try hers….I had been resisting all weekend at our girls retreat…I was afraid to LOVE them and start a new addiction. Finally she got tired of my drooling over her shoulder at her amazing creations, so she told me to sit down, be quiet (not her exact words), and shoved one in my hand…..oh my, the rest is history. Thanks to her peer pressure…My name is Tracey and I am a Copic lover :)))

Lana said...

I like many others held off getting Copics but then I had one of THOSE days and just jumped in and bought a few online and WOW I am so glad I did. I can now color my art projects almost pain free. Several years ago I hurt my back and found out I had a muscle disease and arthritis and had to quit doing all the things I loved doing and had to find something to keep from going crazy LOL Well you guessed it I found rubber stamping and now I am crazy addicted to it and NOW I have found the Copics and I am over the edge LOL doing what I love doing.
Thank you

I've been using the Sketch for almost a year now and I can't go back to anything else! I'm a card maker and the colors that copics have just makes the images I color come to live! Thank you for a chance to win! I need ALL the colors!

Congrats and Hello from Idaho! I LOVE MY COPICS! They make me feel artistic - even when I know I am not. I love how well the colors blend together - and the blender pen is my lifesaver when I go outside the lines. Will never color with anything else ever again!

I have been using copic markers for more than seven years and I am in love with them! The tight seal helps the ink last for a very long time (I am still using some of my first markers, and have not needed to refill them yet). I also really appreciate that copic helps me reduce waste, by providing not just ink refills, but also nib replacements.

COPIC markers are what creative dreams are made of.

I have been eyeing them for about a year now.

Wish there was someone local that could provide demos and explain their how to effectively use them.

Maybe one day....I will have some Copic markers.

I love the way you colored the candy! I never would have thought to use BG11 for the wrappers. I am learning how to color and blend, as the Copics give me more confidence in my abilities. And now I'm learning about colors, with your help!

What a cute card! I love the effect Copics can have. Right now I only have some pale gray & blue for shadows and pale skin colors for skin. I hope to add to my collection as I learn more!

I've been hooked on Copic's since my 2009 retreat where I had the opportunity to try all the colors and just play. I took a certification class and haven't looked back since. Marianne's blog has taught me so much that now I too feel like an artist!

Congrats! Keeping my fingers crossed for certification in Northeastern Ohio!
I love my Copic Sketch markers and while I only started with a few fleshtones and a blender, my collection keeps on growing.
Copics are most definitely like potato chips or oreos or M&Ms (all good things)--you can't have just one!

I love my copic markers! I have both sketch and ciao makers and the Spica glitter pens and I use these to make cards. I have tried so many different coloring mediums and although I have a long way to go to become proficient in it, these markers have proven to be the best choice for me. It is fun to work with and even at the beginner stage that I’m in, this is the first time I am happy with my coloring and feel confident that with more and more practice, I can be even better (whereas with the other mediums I would give up using them very quickly and not even feel motivated enough to continue using). My wish list is very short now—my list from 1 to 10 starts with 1st choice: copics and ends there!

Love your card--beautiful!

Sally Watkins said...

I've been buying Copics one at a time for the past several months. But, I know as soon as I take Sally Lynn's class next week, I will be trying to find the best price so I can buy a whole set. Just like your wonderful samples, I always see creations that truly pop because the creator used Copics. The makers and airbrush really add to the final product creating depth, layers, dimension and over the top color. P.S. I am a PTI fan, too. Thanks for all you do to inspire our creativity.

thestampinglady said...

I only have 4 copics and they are not in the same color family, so no blending for me. Being unemployed for a long time now, I would love to win some. I am tired of missing out on the fun.

Your card is spectacular today. It really looks yummy--pun intended.

I have 2 sets of Ciao markers. I am a demo for The Angel Company and we just started offering these.
Copics make my cards look professional.

I never thought of doing that with ribbon - what a great idea! I love my Copics and use them all the time. I could use more practice with the shading and blending but sometimes I get lazy and just color like a kindergartner - but even that looks wonderful! I have colored ribbon, gemstones, pearls, silk and paper flowers....they are awesome!

Copics are definitely my latest healthy obsession. Well, not so healthy for my wallet, but hey! I get a lot of mileage out of those pens. I love how they blend and how they make images come alive. A colouring trend that is surely here to stay! Oh, and I love your card - and how you customized your ribbon with the Copics. I always wondered if that could be done with Satin ribbon (mostly have seen grosgrain coloured) and now I have my answer!

I love that wreath, I think the glossy accent really makes it great, and the peppermint strip ribbon is fabulous!

I think that Copic markers and Lockhart stamps are a match made in heaven. I really like your wreath card, especially with the Glossy Accents on the candies. I am a Copic sketch marker beginner and got hooked after participating in a make and take with Marianne at our LSS. The markers made me feel successful as an artist, and my images blended so nicely creating such depth that I haven't been able to yet achieve with my colored pencils. My collection of markers is pretty limited, but slowly I add a color here and there as the budget allows. I really appreciate all the blogs who give color tutorial, step by step instructions and the markers used. That really helps a lot! Thanks for the chance to win.

I love the look of Copic coloring, shading, blending, and contouring, and I want to be a part of this artistry! They are high quality, long lasting, and provide a stunning effect. They are a great investment for occasional crafters to professional designers. I'd consider myself somewhere in between, so I know I'd benefit from the Copic Effect.

Wow, great card. Thanks for sharing the opportunity to win some copic products.. I am partial to the sketch markers which I am using. I bought a couple and started to play....needless to say I didn't have a clue how to work them so I took a class....then another, and then another...with each class I got a little more confident and bought more makers....I really love the markers. They produce such wonderful color and I still love how the blender pushes away the color to soften the area you are coloring....what an amazing product you have here...thanks so much for sharing.

I have found myself reaching for my Copic's more than any other coloring tools out there. I have watercolors, watercolor pencils, water based markers, watercolor crayons, pastels, chalks, colored pencils, crayons, oh I'm sure there are more things I own along these lines. None of them provide me with the ease, convenience and most of all fun to create a more professional looking image and card. Whenever I mail my cards out to friends & family I inevitably get a call with "How did you do that?". The cards they are usually refering to are the ones I've created with my Copics.

Oh Mish, how stinkin' cute is this?

I understand people's reluctance to try Copics--they are an investment. But I'm dedicated to cardmaking and papercrafting and I consider Copics an investment in my "art". I love how easy they are to blend, how they don't cause my paper to pill even when I work and work an image, how I can make new colors by combining two or more, and how I can save money by refilling them whenever I need to. Besides, I don't have to spend a small fortune on matching embellishments. With my Sketches I can color my own to match whatever I'm doing! How cool is that?

Love the candy cane ribbon, by the way.

My obsession with Copics started after taking a holiday card making class at a LSS. I LOVE THEM!! The colors are so vibrant and rich and gives you the look of a laser printer, or better!! I love blending the colors, also...I am still very new, so experimenting a lot. But, so far, I am in LOVE!! Thanks for this opportunity to win your drawing. I hope I have some luck!!

You've done it again. I would never have thought to use the marker to put a stripe in the ribbon. You'd think it would bleed. Just a darling card as usual. I love Karen Lockhart's designs and they're perfect with Copics. I have a bunch of colors but would love more training on how to best use them. I do it at a very basic level.

Congratulations on being on the 2010 COPIC Blog Team!! I love this adorable Christmas card! Those candies really stand out so beautifully.

I have a growing collection of COPICs and I love them! I started with Original COPICs and the smallest version of the ABS because I wasn't sure I would use it - ha!, I use it a lot:) This fall while on vacation I decided I needed the ABS-1:) I own some Originals and some Sketch COPIC Markers. The only thing left is get more COPICs and haunt all the COPIC blogs!!

My Copic Story.
I was doing some DT work for a stamp company {I will not mention} and the company had promised to reimburse me for the purchase of some Copic markers. The day I submitted the purchase information the owner started to be very rude.
So I decided to reigned. I only asked for the reimbursement and forgot about the stamps that the were to send. I never posted on my blog or contacted the other DTs to say what happened. I just slipped away.
Well the truth was I could not afford the Copics and got no reimbursement. So I tried to sell them on-line since I had only used them 2 time for the DT. I thought I live near an art school and a Animation college thought it should sell fast. Well, it never did, in 2 months i got 1 inquiry.
I started to use them again. And the images looked so great! Now I am IN LOVE with COPIC but I still can't afford to buy any more... I would totally appreciate the gift if I was chosen.~thanks

Adorable card! I bought my first Copic markers because I loved the vibrant colors and the fact that they blend seamlessly, without lines, and don't pill the paper, unlike water-based markers, no matter how much you color over the same spot. The range of colors is unmatched. My artistic coloring ability has really blossomed from using my Copic markers and following the Copic designers' blogs. They are undoubtedly one of the best investments in my stamp room!

One of my favorite things about Copics is that I can take ANY paper and match a stamped image to it. It gives me so many possibilities in my papercrafting! Blending the colors and shades is also a lot of fun, I never get tired of it. Thank you Copic for giving me the power to create!

I love copics and have 2 sets of ciaos that were a gift from a dear friend. I started with some that I got off of ebay but I tend to use the ones from the set as they go together so well. An airbrush system would be so cool because so many are showing what you can do with it.

Copic markers are a true staple for all of my handstamped projects. I switched over from pencils to Copics. I switched because you cannot get the vibrant and seemless color anywhere else. Copic markers also allow for incredible shading. I use Copic Ciao markers and the Sketch markers. I also have the airbrush system. My 13 year old daughter also has fallen in love with the Copics. When I first purchased them I did not want my daughter to use them for fear of ruining the tips. I gave in and found that the tips are still in great condition. These markers last and give a nice complete look to my projects. A must have for all crafters.

Quite honestly, I'm a little afraid to take the plunge because I don't know where to start and, frankly, I'm a fraid that once I start using Copics, I won't be able to stop! I just love all of the beautiful work I see here and on other blogs that is the result of coloring with Copics. Winning a Copic would certainly get me started.

I am a novice with Copics, and have taught myself through Marianne's and others blogs plus YouTube!! I worked with watercolor and with Prismacolors for many years, primarily coloring in stamped images. But my true love is illustration, and I hope one day to produce a line of digi-stamps designed for coloring, so I recently purchased the 10-pen Multiliner SP set. I have the 36-color Sketch set plus about 12 more colors purchased individually, and I need MORE!! All 24 colors of the Atyou Spica glitter pens are on my wishlist as well!

I grew up loving coloring books. All you had to do was give me a coloring book and a big box of crayons and I could easily entertain myself for hours. When I started stamping, I thought I would love to color in images - but to my surprise, I didn't! In fact, I hated it! I tried nearly every coloring medium available, but I just could not get the look nor with the color range that I wanted. So, I restricted myself to buying solid imagine stamps or ones that needed very little coloring. After reading all the rave reviews about Copics, I was convinced that I needed to give them a try. A few weeks ago, I attended a short 2-hour Copic class and fell in love! Not only do I have plenty of options with 334 colors, but I am also learning to get the exact look that I want with their awesome blending abilities. I have finally found my perfect coloring medium!

I love copic sketch markers because they make it so easy for someone (like me) to show some artistic ability. They really do add pizzaz to all kinds of images and the colors choices are endless. Of course, do to budget reasons, I agonize over which few to purchase next because I want them count.

Congrats Mish! You are AMAZING and will be a great addition to the copic team.

I loved reading TN Granny's comment. I hope she is one of the winners.

I have continued to resist the copic craze because I fear it will be like my nestabilities obsession. Once I get one, I want them all. From everything I have read and seen about copics I think they are amazing tools. I haven't ordered them yet because of the price point, and also because I want to be able to try them before I buy the, and there aren't any retailers in my area. I love the idea that they blend so nicely, and that they can be used on non-porous surfaces.

I finally took the Copic plunge this past September. I was eager to try, but just couldn't afford it. So, for my birthday I asked my family to just give me money to buy some and I got it. I bought my first grouping of Copics, in PTI colors, and love them! I used them to make all the thank you cards for my birthday gifts...everyone got to see first hand what I bought with the money they gave me in the coloring I did on the cards.

Ohhhh I love the idea of drawing a line down the center of ribbon. I gotta be honest - I don't color. I have heard all about Copics and how fab they are but to risk not using them or having to learn, I couldn't make the investment. However, if I won them, I would try and then who knows where my Copic collection would take me. Knowing that I can use them to embellish ribbon and even clear bling does have my thoughts tilting that way now...I was always so focused on having to color images and never thought of other things I could do with them!

I LOVE. LOVE. LOVE Copic Sketch Markers! I'm still experimenting with the ones I have, but I don't think I'll ever have enough until I have all 322 of them. The colors are so luscious, I just want to "lick them". Copics have the transparency and beauty of watercolors, but are so much more convenient, and portable. No water to spill, or brushes to clean (the brush is already built in). I won't leave town without them!

Copic fun! is right! I've always enjoyed coloring with other (nameless) markers and Prismacolor pencils, but, I have never colored as good as I do with the Copics. My collection is currently small, but I have purchased wisely, after studying your and other blog team members blogs, and buying 2-3 colors within a 'color family'. My ability to shade and bring my stamped images to life is amazing! The resulting vibrancy and dimension is just beautiful. I've learned alot from you...thanks!

Congrats on your design team membership! And these are GREAT prizes!

I use Copic Sketch Markers for coloring stamped images on hand-made greeting cards. I've been making cards for over 15 years, and have gone through many types of markers. They all either fade, wear out, or dry out so quickly that the true cost was astronomical. When I started using Copics last year, I found not only the solution to those problems, but the ability to truly create the color shading effect that makes each and every card stunning. They've really opened up a whole new way to create cards, and have revitalized my creativity!

I use copic markers because of their blend ability, but I keep on finding out that they are so versatile. They work on so many different surfaces. Instead of having to buy a lot of different markers for different surfaces, I can buy just one.

My Copics are just about my best investment yet. I held out but when a store I visit when in Kansas City had an introductory class, I had to sign up. Before class I made a list of favorite colors from blogs I visit often and after class I bought what I could afford. I am still a real novice but love to play! There is something so relaxing just to sit down and color. I have began to want to add color to everything! My initial purchase was all Ciao markers but I have purchased some Sketch markers at Hobby Lobby when I needed something new! Actually I have done better than I thought I would with my limited supply by mixing and blending with what I have available. Needless to say, I love Copics and would recommend them as my favorite coloring tool.

Oh My Gosh, I am addicted to Copics! I first saw Copic coloring on Kelly Lunceford's blog (Flutter by Atomic Butterfly) and then quickly found Mish's blog (Mish Mash) and was totally intrigued. I couldn't find Copics near where I live, so bought another brand, which didn't have much variety in the way of color. Finally, I found some Copics in the next city over from me, and bought about a dozen. Oh, was I hooked! I'm primarily a cardmaker/scrapbooker and am now on two design teams, and I just can't put my Copics away! So far my marker of choice is the Sketch. What I'm salivating over is an airbrush system, but I'm not sure where to start. Boy, would I love to win one... thanks for the chance! And Mish, thanks so much for your continued Copic coloring inspiration!

I think Copics are BEAUTIFUL!! I was so intimidated by them at first. I would admire all the gorgeous projects made and drool. I bought 2 coordinating colors and failed miserably. But the copic community is LARGE and very gracious. I watch and read so many online tutorials and finally *somewhat* mastered a technique I am happy with. I use my copics for crafts, but I have caught myself reaching for them for helping kids with homework to household items. Great product!

I love the Copic Sketch markers. They never roll off your table...the brush nib makes colouring so easy and the colours available are gabulous. You can make all your embellishments match with just a few swipes of your brush tip. The papers never "pill", no matter how much you layer, blend or shade your colours. You certainly can't do that with watercolour markers. These markers are the very best you can get!

I'm running out of original answers to the questions, so I'll just say one more time, I love my Copics. I only have a few, but I love how much variation I can get with just those few markers. They are worth every penny.

Oh Wow, a chance to win some copics!! I only have a few Copics(like maybe 5)and am sure I don't use them to their full potential! I have always loved to colour (a colouring book and a pack of Crayons would keep me entertained for hours as a child) and Copics have put the "fun" back into it :)I have tried many different types of colouring mediums since I've begun stamping and have not found anything that I truly love until Copics! I also love the flexibility that I have with them and that I can customize any embellishment to match the project I am working on. I look forward to taking a training course some time in the future.

Mish I LOVE your blog and faithfully check it daily. From reading it for so long I feel like I know you (which makes my husband laugh - he doesn't get the whole Computer thing!! lol)and really miss it when you don't post.

Thanks for all the inspiration!

Jen

Michelle, I have been a huge fan of yours already, because of Papertrey. I have gotten so much inspiration from your posts. I love to be able to connect with people from all around the world and see all of the talent out there. Getting to PLAY with Copics would be fantastic, because that is what papercrafting does for me. PLAY!!! I have always had some sort of creative outlet, but I think papercrafting is here to stay, not just for me, but for all.
There is just so much versatility, and Copics would just be that WOW factor for me.
