Holiday House

I FORGOT TO ADD: Vicki Crisman, who is an awesome paper crafter, is giving away some awesome goodies on her BLOG. She designs for Scrap Muse which offers scrapbooking kits and she's giving away the September kit on Monday. So go sign up for the free kit. It would work great with cards and other paper crafting projects too. There's some of that fun Fancy Pants felt stuff in there too, I'm drooling over that! Tell Vicki I sent ya and I hope you win!! And a big hello to Nessie from Europe, thank you for visiting my blog today!!!

Ellen's getting ready for the holidays at her store. This month the featured stamp is called Holiday House and is a Karen Lockhart design. You can find it HERE along with a kit to make some fun cards. For my card, I used some of my favorite papers from Cosmo Cricket. They have a beautiful holiday line this year. I oohed and aahhed over it at CHA this summer. For the design of card, I used one my favorites from my sketch book. but this time I turned it sideways for a fun twist. There's a piece of patterned paper on the right and a scallop cut piece of patterned paper on the left. The seam is covered with velvet ribbon. The scallop cut was done with the large square Spellbinder's Die Template, it fits perfectly on a standard size card. Mocha Decorative Pearls were added for some bling. For the main image, I used Copic markers to color in all those tiny spaces. The Sketch tips stay so pointy, it's always easy to color in those small spaces. I also used a gold Copic Spica glitter pen on all the Christmas lights and snow, but the camera just did not pick up the glittery effects. Trust me, this card shimmers. I wanted my colored image to be a little more muted so I took my brayer and Creamy Caramel Stampin' Up! ink and brayered over the image. That gave it the worn look like the patterned papers have. All edges of mats and the card base were inked with a burgundy Copic marker. This gave all the edges some definition so they stand out a little more.

This card is beautiful again - but what else would we expect from you?! *smile*. All your ideas with the background paper (the scalloped edges) make your cards always stand out from the crowd. You are my inspiration - from far,far away (I live in Europe!)

Love from Nessie

That Lockhart image is so beautifully colored, and I love the papers. The scalloped edges and pearls add such a nice touch!
