Cosmo Cricket..projects for kids

Happy Weekend. Today I have a fun post that involves the kiddos. As you all know Jordan loves to craft with me. So it was very fitting that I invite her to create some projects for this Saturday's Cosmo Cricket Challenge.....projects for kids.

I think when you're involving kids with your crafting, it's important to set out a small grouping of supplies. This helps them from becoming too overwhelmed....and making a disaster in your craft room. :) I chose to use Cosmo Cricket's cute Pixie-Licious line of papers and stickers because Jordan loves little fairies and flowers. I went ahead and cut up an entire sheet of the long border strips for with the idea of making some book marks for her school friends. I also added in some Papertrey ribbon, a Papertrey sentiment stamped on patterned paper then added to a Small Metal Tag, some Papertrey buttons, Cosmo Cricket letter stickers and a few Avery labels. I arranged all of the supplies on a tray so Jordy could craft on the big ottoman while watching tv and chillaxin'.
I made a sample bookmark so she could have a few ideas ahead of time. It's always good to give kids some ideas to get their creative juices flowing. This is the front...
.....and this is the back of the bookmark.
The 12 x 12 sheet of patterned paper that is all borders is a great sheet for bookmarks. The fun patterns are aligned on strips...perfect for bookmarks!
Sticker letters are always fun. Jordan used them to spell out her friend's names.
Ribbons were adhered with Scor-Tape. The metal tags were ready to stick on with pop dots.
And here is a sampling of Jordan's bookmarks. I think she did a great job. She carefully picked colors that each of her friends would like. I love that about Jordan. She thinks things through and is so thoughtful of others.
I think kids love to see their names on things too. I love that Jordan added each name like she did here with Claire. Claire is to thank for the bookmark idea. She posted on FaceBook that she lost her IPod but then found it.....in her math book because she used it as a bookmark. I think Claire definitely needs a bookmark! :)
I hope you enjoy Jordan's bookmarks. Perhaps you can get crafty with the kiddos today!

For more crafting with kids, you can see Jordan's birthday invitations she made using more Cosmo goodies. And this is the birthday card I made for Jordan, made to match her birthday invitations. Enjoy!!

Larger Than Life

Edit: Ohhh, I forgot to mention the fun holiday festivities coming to the blogaroonie. The big kick off will be Monday, November 22nd. Can you say "12 days of holiday fun"? That's right, my blogging buddy and I are doing 12 wonderful days of holiday projects. Sprinkled in here and there. We might even try for some guest designer spots to celebrate with us.

Many of you made guesses as to who my blogging buddy might be. Here's a few more tips to narrow down the selection: It's not Jordy, she's too busy with school stuff. She lives outside of Kansas. She is a wonderful mother. She does vintage like no other. She ties the best loopy bows ever. Her blog posts make your heart melt.

Hi friends. Busy day here as we have company coming for the weekend. My sister and I are hitting TWO auctions this weekend, maybe a THIRD. So excited. Tomorrow night we're having chili and potatoe chowder and all the fixin's. It's going to be a fun weekend!

Here's a I made from Lisa's Larger than Life stamp set. And it has coordinating dies, so awesome!
I love all these pretty layers of flowers tied up with silk ribbon and twine. Pretty little Papertrey papers along with some vintage ledger paper and cork paper from my Etsy shop.
Enjoy your day and have an even better weekend!! I suggest you go junkin'. Then do some crafting. And a little soup making in between. :)

You can find this card here in my Etsy shop. :)

Just a little song for today.....

Mum Card with Label Wrapper....

Hi friends. Boy, did we have fun with that anonymous poster, huh? Thanks for backing me up and for all your nice comments. And you know what? That stupid comment made me really reflect on my life. I kept thinking to myself, *Geez, I'm a just a mom, lay off a little*. And then I thought *I. am. just. a. mom* What a beautiful thing to be. Just a mom. Just a wife. Just a friend. Just another person trying to make it one more day on this beautiful earth. One more ordinary day of my beautiful life. I wouldn't trade my life for anything. I wouldn't miss this crazy ride for nuthin! So if it means we eat cookie dough from a plastic tube, or that we have bologna sandwiches for supper sometimes just so we can sit around the table together....or that we eat hotdogs at the concession stand to support the school.....or that we have leftovers because it's a frugal thing to do.....or that I serve Doritos and gallons of pop to the girls' friends when they come over.....all that matters is that I see my little family smile and say *Mom, you're the best!* That. is. all. that. matters.to. me.

So. With that said, let's get down to crafty business, shall we? Sometimes you just want to do something a little different with your projects. Mix things up a bit. Experiment a little. Today I have a fun idea to show you using my Label Wraps from my Etsy shop.

The
Label Wraps are rectangle shaped pieces of thin paper that have adhesive on the back. Think of a giant sticker. They come 5 to a sheet and you just cut the labels apart when the divided lines are. You can stamp on them, do masking techniques, emboss, ect. For today's project, take one Label Wrapper and simply add rectangle pieces of ledger paper. I used a single arrow stamp to add some graphic fun then added *to* and *from* using an ink pen.
To attach to the envelope, peel the backing off the Label Wrap and adhere part of it to the front then wrap around the back of the envelope. Here you can see the front of my envelope with my pretty card made with Nichole's new Year of Flowers: Mums stamp set. The ledger paper on the envelope coordinates with the ledger paper I used as a background for my card.
And here you can see the back of my envelope which is where you can write your return address. Such a fun and unique way to dress up an envelope. The recipient will know it's a good mail day when they see this card coming their way. I also added an envelope liner using Papertrey's envelope liner die and Distressed Dots patterned paper. So fun!
For more fun using Label Wraps, check out this link. It has a continuous showing of all my blog posts using Label Wraps. Hope you enjoy!

Coming soon: There will be a very exciting holiday event happening here on my blog right after Thanksgiving. I am teaming up with a very special friend and crafter extraordinaire that you all love and adore. We've been working very hard behind the scenes to bring you a fun filled holiday season full of crafty goodness. Can you guess who my friend might be?

Cool whip?! Premade cookie dough?! Ick! Not very domestic diva.

Hello ordinary day....

Hello first snow of the season. Hello giant fluffy, cotton candy looking snowflakes.
Hello warm and cozy fire.
Hello yummy cappuccino with Cool Whip dollop and cinnamon sprinkling.
Hello funny child who aspires to be an architect.
I love my ordinary days. :)

Yum-Dee-Dum....Treat Boxes

Looking for clever ways to package homemade treats this year. My Twinkles and Tinsel Box Kits offer up a fun way to offer up your best treats this year. Sometimes just a few little treats is you need to show someone you care. Today I've made some of my family's favorites...Peanut Butter Cup Cookies. Again, we enjoyed these at the basketball game the other night. The bus driver really appreciated a little goody! :)

With the kit, you'll get supplies to assemble 4 completed boxes. Bonus: For the remaining kits in the shop, I'm adding in 4 free sheets of tissue and 4 free Dainty Doilies so you can package your treats just like I'm doing today.

First up, assemble the boxes and tags as shown in the kit photos...or any way you'd like.
Prepare your treats and stack two cooled cookies in a cute cupcake liner. I found these holiday ones at Michael's in the Martha Stewart section.
Fold a sheet of tissue to fit the width of the box.
Nestle the treats into the box. Goodbye little morslets of chocolate and peanut buttery goodness. :)
Tuck the fold tissue paper neatly into the box.
Fold up the box. Fold over about 1" of a Dainty Doily. Lay on top of the box and wrap twine around the box. Tie on an embellished tag. Write the recipient's name on the label. Deliver to your favorite peeps!
Oh, such a cute way to hand out some little goodies. If homemade treats aren't your thing, you can add in chocolate truffles or fudge from the candy shop.....stacks of pre-wrapped candies, Hershey Kisses, etc. Enjoy!

If you'd like to purchase any of the items used in these kits separately, I used Dainty Doilies, Small Kraft Boxes with Tissue, Small White Boxes with Tissue, Small Holiday Tag Trio, and Cotton Twine.

Recipe for cookies: Take tube of peanut butter cookies (I used Pillsbury) and roll into 1" balls. Bake in mini muffin tins as package directs. Immediately push mini Reese's peanut butter cups into cookies when removed from the oven. Sprinkle with holiday sprinkles if you wish. Cool. Eat two or three or six and package up the rest for gifts. :)
