Get out your big ol' buttons...

Welcome to another Papertrey countdown and anniversary celebration day. Today my good friend Heather Nicols is debuting her Fillable Frames Addition 1 and Tag-Its #1 stamp sets. The Fillable Frames are some of my most used stamps and I'm sure the Tag-Its will soon be just as popular. Be sure to visit Pine's blog and Nichole's blog for all the countdown low down. :)

Thank you so much for the wonderful response to Button Boutique. I'm sure you will love it as much as I do. Want some more ideas? Well let's dig into some more button fun. Today I filled up my little vintage tins with Papertrey Vintage Buttons along with a few other goodies. Let me show you what I have in store:
(don't you just love this photo?)

I'm pairing up my Button Boutique stamp set + Bitty Background Blocks stamp set + Button Card Die Collection Dies. As you can see in the photo below I'm thinking outside the box today and am going with a horizontal button card. You don't see this much in the vintage type button cards but we can now create whatever we want right? You can see that die cut patterned paper (October Afternoon), stamped the outline...then die cut some Rustic Cream cardstock then stamped with the dots.....then stamped strips of cardstock with the 25cent border stamp.
And here's something that you'll flip over. I dug out the BIGGEST Vintage Buttons I could find from my Papertrey stash. I know some of you aren't fond of the big buttons. But whyyyy...they deserve crafty love too. :)
Using 20 or 30 glue dots...okay maybe 4 per button.....I adhered the buttons to my button cards. Notice how each button card is color coordinated with Ripe Avocado accents and ink...Hawaiian Shores....and Summer Sun. Love that. But I'm not done yet.
Using some fantasticly awesome vintage glass *thingies* from my stash, I adhered one to each giant button.
Eeeek. I now have beautiful buttons that look like they would adorn granny's wool coat. Soooo pretty. If you don't have fantastically awesome vintage glass *thingies* in your stash, why not try some big rhinestones...or a cluster of smaller ones...or another vintage type button stuck on top. I challenge you to dig through your stash and find something suitable. I finished up the button cards with a pretty silk bow.
I tucked each button card into a small glassine bag. Then I stitched a brown paper sack into a pouch to hold the button cards.
Then I tucked all the little button card sacks inside, safe and sound.
I created an accent for my pouch by die cutting a piece of patterned paper with the Button Boutique die. Then I stamped a button card topper and craft worthy sentiment onto a die cut and stamped Fillable Frame Additions 1 piece of cardstock. Isn't that kinda cute? Makes an adorable label, I think. I finished off the pouch with Hawaiian Shores ribbon and a clip on earring from my vintage stash. My grandmother wore earrings like these every day. I never saw her without them. And a hanky. She called the earrings her *baubles*. I have a few pairs of hers that I keep in my cedar chest.
So there ya have it....lots of button goodness today. I little creative play. A LOT of fun! Thanks for stopping by!

Very neat project! This is a wonderful way to use those BIG buttons! And ... I can see these happily attached to a larger card base ... oh, yah! The gift tag is awesome and those earings are familiar! Love how you used them to accent the card! :)

I don't think I've ever "ooh"ed and "aah"ed so much during a blog posting in my life! I love your buttons (yes, even and especially the big ones) but even more so I love how they're displayed. What vintage tin exactly do you have them in - I mean, what was that tin intended for originally??? I must find me some...
And for those of us that don't want to "make do" with some other sparkly thingies and want YOUR sparkly thingies that you added to the middle of each button, where did you find those jewels??? Please share!
Thanks for your post today, as always! It was so inspiring!!!

Hugs,
Christine aka The Stampin' Ninja

Didn't have time yesterday to leave a comment but Michelle your newest creation is calling to me. I just love buttons and as a child can remember going to my granny's and after giving her a hug and a big hello, the whole family knew that I would want to be allowed take out her button box, oh what a magical world. Funny thing is, I took out a box the other day and lo and behold there was a card of buttons peeking out at me and then seeing your blog, well what can I think but that my friends the buttons were calling to me again!!

Thanks for creating more fun for us

And personally...

I forgot to tell you in my post that one of my favorite things to do is get a cup of coffee and settle in with the computer and go through your archives.I especially savor the Christmas Holiday projects-just like reading a beloved book. Hours of enjoyment!

This post has me drooling. I am a button addict, and your beautiful trays of buttons are speaking to my inner OCD. And I LOVE the giant ones, I snatch those up whenever I see one in a colour I love! I have yet to order PTI buttons, because MIL has hoarded buttons for 30 years, leaving me lots to play with - but those yellow ones are calling my name....

I just LOVE this project. What a unique way to give a card - makes the card a gift in itself!!!

Michelle- I've readily fallen' in love with these already as I was pointed towards them last evening after getting to chat with Dawn McVey on the phone about them...can I just tell you that I normally shy away from stamps, but Papertrey makes it really easy to fall in love with them via their designs and die-cut sets. I'm now contemplating the purchase of the button set-up..we'll see...too much fun! :)
