Vintage Lockhart Stocking

Today I'm using Karen Lockhart's Christmas Rose Stocking. It's one of my favorites from her stockings collection. I'm also loving the vintage look of the Christmas line from Cosmo Cricket this year. I finished my card off with Papertrey's new Vintage Cream ribbon and holiday sentiment for a beautiful card. If you zoom in closely on the photo below, you'll see that I paper pieced the yellow portion of the stocking. It's very subtle but I loved the little snowflake image that I captured. I colored the rest of the stocking with Copic Sketch markers. For the roses, I used a dark wine red color. To lighten up the centers, I went back in with my Copic Colorless Blender. Just hold the sketch tip of the marker on the center of the flowers to remove a little color. For the rest of the greenery on the stocking, I just dotted on some color with various green Copic markers, filling in white spaces where needed. The plaid part of the stocking is fun too, you can mix and match any colors you like.

I love that Karen's images are beautifully detailed but at the same time they are generic enough in nature that you can change up the colors, themes, etc. I think this stamp would be darling done up with pink roses and some whimsical holiday papers. I might have to try that soon!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Congratulations on your wonderfully vintage stocking card. It looks like something you pulled out of a dusty antique trunk from your great grandmother's attic, then blew the dust off prior to sharing it with us. So sweet and lovely.

I love this stocking stamp, too. It's so much fun to play with, but my creations never look as good as yours. Sigh. I'll keep trying if you keep sharing! Thanks for the lovely inspiration. Now, I'm off to the craft room....

I love the vintage look. Your cards are simply beautiful.

What Copic (beige) did you use to outline the stocking.
