Golden Wheat Birthday

Hi everyone, I had a great time this weekend at my scrapbook retreat. I'm working on some fun projects to show you so stay tuned. Today I have a card to show you that I made for my dad's birthday. His last name is Wheat so this card is totally suitable for him. I used the stamp set from Papertrey Ink called First Fruits. It's a totally unique set, perfect for fall occasions. The images in the set are so elegant and well thought out. They would be perfect for making Thanksgiving table settings, etc. So many times we seem to skip right over the importance of our Thanksgiving holiday. I think friends and family would love getting a card during this time of year, telling them how thankful you are for them.
For the birthday card, I embossed the wheat image with gold embossing powder and layered it onto Gold Shimmer Cardstock and Dark Chocolate Cardstock. The coordinating background paper is Papertrey's First Fruits patterned paper. My dad loves fall colors, especially brown, so this card was perfect for him. I finished off the card with some Papertrey Gold Sheer Metallic Edge ribbon and a birthday sentiment from Papertrey's Mixed Messages stamp set.
I hope you all find some time this month to just be with your families and friends...to sit and relax and visit.....and just be thankful for the important people in our life. Have a great day everyone!!

What are your big plans for Thanksgiving this year? We're staying close to home so that we can relax and take a break from all the girls' activities. I'm looking forward to some juicy turkey, my mom's wonderful cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie......playing games with the girls.....maybe a hay rack ride if I can talk my dad into firing up the tractor.....a walk through the timber......maybe catch that movie called *Four Christmases*.....ahhhhhh, I can hardly wait.

Beautiful! How about that, your dad's last name is Wheat and you're in Kansas!

We're lucky to have most of our family right here (now that we've moved back) and will be bopping between both sides of the family just a 1/2 mile apart.

Does anyone else do a turkey dinner at home at the beginning of November like we do since we can't wait until the end of the month?

Beautiful card!! My husband is from Kansas and I am making Thanksgiving cards for family members using this set. We are planning on going to one of my daughter's home this year. Not all family will be there but the rest will be with us in thought.

We won't be going too far...just about 10 minutes away to my MIL's house...most of my family lives close. We have lots of Randy's family traveling in to visit this Thanksgiving...so there will be lots of catching up and lots of EATING!!!! That's my favorite part!!! LOL!! HUGS!!!

Mish,
You continually amaze me with your creativity! This is so pretty...not only the embossed image, but the way you've placed the sentiment, added the bow, etc. WoW!

This is soooo beautiful!!! Love how the wheat stamp matches the paper & how the embossing in gold really looks elegant!.

We're just having the immediate family for Thanksgiving this year as some relatives have to work & can't make it. So it'll be my husband, our two grown kids, their spouses, & our 2 yr.old gran-daughter. Yummy! I can almost taste the turkey & stuffing. But let's not forget that pumpkin pie:)

Absolutely love this card! I've had this stamp set since it was released and haven't inked it up yet (gasp) but that's all changing very soon. Love the idea of embossing the wheat...leave it to you!
