October Afternoon Farm Girl Blog Hop/Project Life 2012 Week 37

Welcome to a stop on the October Afternoon Farm Girl Blog Hop.  Today, most of the October Afternoon Design Team is sharing a fun post featuring Farm Girl products.  You can find the lineup of posts on the October Afternoon blog.  You can find the Farm Girl collection of products here.

Today I used Farm Girl products on my Week 37 Project Life inserts.  This was the week I did my first big cooking day for crock pot freezer meals.  I thought the homespun papers of the Farm Girl line were perfect to highlight some grocery lists and cooking related photos.

This first photo shows my entire weekly spread with the 2 inserts.  I like to show these photos with all the inserts so that you can see how I do my inserts.  They're almost always smaller than a 12 x 12 size so that the main weekly spread shows through.  I used a 6 x 12 insert and an 8 x 10 insert this week.
Here's the main weekly spread on it's own.
Here's the left page of the weekly spread.
And the right page of the weekly spread.
I particularly liked this 4 x 6 insert showing Jordan and Josey face to face.  Poor Josey just isn't growing any more and she's coming to terms with it.
Here's my 6 x 12 insert where I'm using the October Afternoon Farm Girl collection.  This golden yellow/aqua/brown paper is one of my favorites from the line.  I tucked my grocery list for my big cooking day into the 6 x 12 page protector then stitched it shut.  I then tucked in the 4 x 6 portion which has my title and journaling.
Turning the page, here's the back side of the above 6 x 12 insert along with the front size of my 8 x 10 insert. The 6 x 12 insert has my menu plan for the week. The "meal plan" insert uses the back side of the OA patterned paper.  The 8 x 10 insert has photos of my new slow cooker, my new slow cooker recipe books and our new refrigerator that came at just the right time.
Here's the back side of the 8 x 10 insert.  Here I highlight photos from my big cooking day.  I used more of the Pickling Crock patterned paper along with chipboard letters and journaling. All of the little snippets are from the Farm Girl line too.
Here's a close up of my 2 coordinating insert pages.
I have one more cooking themed project for you today.....a recipe card.  If you've been visiting my blog very long then you know I love to make handmade recipe cards.  You can click on the label at the bottom of this post named "recipes" and all of my recipe posts will show up.  This recipe is a favorite crock pot recipe that comes from my mom for Scalloped Potatoes and Weenies.
I used my favorite paper patterned papers from the Farm Girl collection  along with a label from the Word Stickers sheet + a label I cut from the Almanac patterned paper
The red ric rac sticker is from the 12 x 12 Shape Stickers sheet. The red stitching just seemed fitting since I've been using it for all my holiday projects.
This was so fun to make.  I'm a true farm girl right down to my roots so this fun Farm Girl line is going to get good use.  I can't wait to use it for more homespun type projects and scrapbook pages of my canned good, garden veggies and life in the country.  But remember, one of the things I love best about October Afternoon is that in each themed line, there are gobs of products that will work for everyday type projects.  You're gonna love it!

To wrap up my post today, I'm giving away a rubber stamp set from the Farm Girl collection.  The winner will be announced on December 12th.  To enter for my prize drawing leave a comment on this post telling me either what you would create with the Farm Girl collection and/or if you're a crock pot user.  Please note:  I've had some issues with spam comments.  You can log in anonymously but you must leave your full name in your post if you do so.  Good luck!  Oh, and there's a grand prize drawing over at the OA blog so be sure to check in there.

I'm the end of the blog hop so you can visit Danni's blog if you need the starting point. I'll be back soon with a big honkin' post kicking off my slow cooker and freezer meal fun! Thanks for stopping by today.

This is fabulous!!! I am definitely a crock pot user, though definitely not to the extent it looks like you are - usually just once a week or so. And I will totally use this collection to document our gardening adventures! I have 2 of my own farm girls (and some farm boys!) Thank you for the chance!!

Love Farm Girl!

I love slow cooker meals, but I don't do them as often as I would like! My favorite slow cooker meal is beef stew that is so creamy and delicious! I love OA, and would truly be so thrilled to get a set of stamps in the mail!

I love cooking in my crock pot. My mom when I was growing up used it frequently too. I am making dinner for a group of my friends for our Christmas together and my menu will be pot roast, potato's and carrots in the crock pot.
I love OA and look forward to using the Farm Girl line. I think I own about every line they have come out with for the last five years. They are a great company.--Diana Finlay.

I love your pages and the way you weave a favorite recipe from your mom and your childhood into the collection of stories and pictures from today. I share your love of crockpots. It definitely makes my dinner prep so much easier! I keeping pinning recipes for the make-ahead freezer meals for the crockpot but I haven't tried any yet. I am looking forward to your post on your crockpot adventures. Thanks for offering the great prize!

Crockpot cooking is the way to go!! I just made a monster pot of beef stew this past weekend! Between getting to smell it for hours, and, just how easy it is to do, it's awesome!

I always love your Project Life pages! They provide me with such inspiration! I absolutely love crock pot cooking! I will admit though that I am not much of a chef. I am very fortunate to have a husband that LOVES to cook, so he does most of the cooking in the house. He makes these mouth-watering meatballs in the Crock Pot! Love them! My mother-in-law mentioned at Thanksgiving lunch that she would like to start documenting her family recipes in a cookbook. (She'll also be teaching me these recipes!) I would love to use the Farm Girl collection to make this recipe book/box to document such delicious recipes!

I would use the collection for farm trips (pumpkin patch, apple picking, train rides) and I also do use the crockpot! I love overnight oatmeal in it, salsa chicken (for tacos), and I did a fun pork roast with apple slices and honey (from Pinterest) that was good (but could've been marinating longer I think).

Farm Girl would be suitable for just about anything:cards, scrapbook layouts and more. I used my crockpot constantly when my children were younger, then ditched it when I bought a stove with a slow cooker function. But I really missed it because it was so simple to take to any event and keep food warm,so I have it on my Christmas list for this year.

What a great way to incorporate real world items and not just perfectly typed journaling. That grocery list is priceless.

I would make a recipe book of my late grandmas recipes. I do use a crock pot, however haven't got too adventurous with it yet. Love your idea! Great inspiration! :)

I am a crock pot girl...how about sharing that cheeseburger meatloaf recipe with us? I grew up on a farm, and just recently got a whole hoard of photos from my mother, so I could put that farm girl paper to good use!
