For my mother...

Hi friends. It's been a trying week. In the midst of my dad being gone to Germany for two weeks, I had fun plans for my mom and I. We were going to sew and craft and shop while the girls were in school. Well, the plans changed. My mom has really bad arthritis and a bad back and this week has been horrible for her. I've been taking her to doctor's appointments, etc and I'm so glad that I live right down the road from her so I can help out. But it saddens me deeply to see her in so much pain. And she's not the sittin' around type. She wants to be in her garden and out and about. So then she feels badly when she needs to ask for help. But for all the things she's done for me in my life, it is now my turn to take care of her.

I made her this pretty card today so she can sit it by her chair during those rare moments she actually takes a break and puts her feet up. The main circle image is from one of my favorite JustRite sets called Stitched with Love. The illustrations in this set are so charming. They fit in perfectly with all my homespun goodies.
And I finally tore into my Girls' Paperie patterned paper. I couldn't stand it any longer, I had to create something with it. I colored the sweet heart image in with Copic markers and then added a little glitter for some shimmer. I tied the cared up with some of my Robin's Egg Wrinkle Ribbon and a tag I distressed with the word hello from Papertrey.
The inside of my card features some snippets of paper from The Girls' Paperie collection. I love cutting little strips and mixing them up. So sweet.
Here's my Copic colors I used today for coloring the image. These colors are soft and pretty and work so well with the patterned paper.
Well, I'm off to send out some Easter cards and get this one ready for Mom. I know she'll love it. Do you have someone that could use a card today? Perhaps a little pick me up or a sweet Easter card? Maybe hand deliver a card with a sweet treat? It will make some one's day.

Michelle,
What a beautiful post. I am sure that your mom will love the card and thoughts...if she's anything like my mom she'll have a hard time accepting it too...because that's what great mom's do...take care of us but have a hard time letting us help them. :) I too am blessed that my mom lives very close by. We are very, very close and even more so as my dad passed away 5 years ago. Thanks for always inspiring us. I appreciate your blog so very much.

Once again you've created a darling card. Your note about your mom brought a tear to my eyes. My mom had a stroke and needed a lot of help. One day she said "some day I'm going to take care of you". I think she had forgotten that she had already taken care of me for 50 years and now it was my turn to take care of her. She's been gone for 5 years but I'll never forget that.

Your mom is fortunate to have a daughter like you. I also have arthritis quite bad so I can really sympathize with her.
Love the robin's egg blue in your card; it is one of my favorite colors and having the buttons to match is so special. I know your mom will love it!

I love your card, is so soft and pretty. You are lucky you live close to your mom. I live 1 1/2 hours from mine and she has RA and many other health problems. It is a very sad time for me now because we are apart, I go when I can and stay. My son and his wife are careing for her she can't be living alone anymore. She is not accepting her health issues very well, so makes it harder on her and us. I wish your mom well and hope she feels better.

So sorry to hear about your mom. Arthritis is terrible.

Do you happen to know if she also has osteoporosis? The reason I ask is because if she does also have osteoporosis she may have a vertebral fracture which obviously can be extremely painful - but it is treatable.

I work for a doctor that treats pain and we see many older patients that are in terrible pain.

Hope she is feeling better soon.

I so help that your mom feels better soon. I have lived with back pain since age 19 and I am now 39. I know that one day I could possibly have to have surgery, but I am taking care of it now to prolong that as long as possible. I will say a prayer for her in hopes that she feels much better very very soon. Sending you and her legions of angels to watch over her! Mwah!

Hi Mish,
Your creations always have such beautiful meaning. You are so blessed to still have your Mother. My Mother passed away soon to be 10years ago and I miss her so much. So treasure the time you have with her, take lots of pictures of you, her and the girls. That's one of my wished I had done things. I have so very few of me and my Mom pics. Your card is so beautiful. I love that new paper and the new ribbon technique. Your Mom will love your card. Enjoy your "Easter" and continue to make memorable moments as often as you can. I pray your Mom is back up and about soon. Be wonderfully blessed Mish!!!

Oh cool, what is your Dad doing in Germany? Lovely card, I hope your Mom already feels a bit better looking at it! Best get-well-wishes from a German follower in New Zealand!

My heart goes out to your mother. Not only do I deal with a lot of pain on a daily basis (fibromyalgia and arthritis) but my daughter has extreme pain (is terminally ill) and we are having a terrible time getting on top of it. Being in pain is life altering.

I hope and pray that your mom is able to get about and do some of her favorite things and that her pain subsides. You are a sweet daughter to help her so much and what a beautiful card!

Hope you have a joyous Easter weekend!
