Pink stationery....stickers......cool pens

I was looking at this Karen Lockhart image called Writing Letters, wondering what I could do with it today, Jordan came into my stamp room. We started talking about stationery sets and how when I was a kid, there wasn't all these fun scrapbooking tools and papers. So to have an actual stationery kit, a fun sticker pack and cool pens(remember the kind that had 4 colors to one pen and you clicked on which color you wanted?).....well, it was pretty special.
So I ended up with all kinds of ideas to create stationery sets for the girls' friends and for my friends too. I'll be working on that some day but today I created some cards that would totally be suitable for any age girlfriend. Who doesn't love to get a letter in the mail? I have to keep teaching my girls that letter writing is a good thing. They don't do it much I at least have them write thank you notes and send out birthday invitations.

For my cards, I used some cute Doodlebug patterned paper for my color inspiration. I stamped the Writing Letters Lockhart image onto some plaid patterned paper and then paper pieced the envelopes/stationery portion using white cardstock colored with Copic markers. Tied Vintage Buttons and a Spellbinder's Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities die cut finish off the focal images of the cards.
Such sweet accents and pretty colors....pink Papertrey ribbons and sentiments from Vintage Picnic Sentiments finish off the cards.
I have these cards sitting out because I think they're so cute. The memories that come back when I think how much I loved to write letters, have pen pals and get something new from the stationery section.......ahhhhhhh, heaven.

Thank you for bringing up the pens with the different colors to pick from.. Brings back memories. :) Question for you, though. Would you consider doing a tutorial (video or pictures) of how you tie your bows?

Oh I remember having that pen and always wanting to get new stationery. Just love these cards and that image. I don't have that one but it's going on my wish list. Your papers are so pretty and I just bought that plaid to use on some cards. Love how it looks. Can't wait to see more. Have a wonderful weekend and looking forward to Monday and the mason jar reveal. :)

Way back when...I would spend an hour in the Hallmark store pouring over their stationary sets ...then to just buy one and start sending them out -- ooh it was so exciting! We didn't have computers for emailing or cell phones to text!

These are great!! I was thinking the same thing myself that letters aren't written enough lately. I know everyone uses email these days but it is also nice to open the mailbox and see a letter from someone. I need to write more myself. Have a great weekend.

Michelle, I don't know if I have left a message for you before but I have been blogging your site for a long time now. I love all of your ideas. I think you would be a great mom and great friend to have. I remember have a stationary set when I was little. There is nothing more special than getting a lovely card or pretty paper as a letter in the "real" mail.

Gosh, I still spend hours in the stationary departmet. I'm on a mission this year to get my friends to actually send an occasional letter--I'm making them their own stationary sets. Of course, I'll have to start the party off...oooooh, another trip to the my favorite stationers, I can feel it coming!

Thanks for the wonderful inspiration yet again, Mish.

I love this post... I used to put pen-pal ads in teeny bop magazines back in the day and at one time had well over 100 penpals! Those were the days... The cute stationary was too precious to toss out, so I have two full tubs of it just sitting. Amazing how email and the 'electronic age' has taken over the art of correspondence. I still try to mail thank yous at a minimum and of course cards for occasions. Thanks for your lovely inspiration!
