Prize Winner: The prize winner of the chipboard package was Holly from Alabama. Thanks to everyone for playing along!!
Being that my girls head to the local county fair each year, I'm totally going with the carnival theme. I always ask the girls to take photos of their fun outings with friends and Josey got some great shots for me. I decided to make a very condensed version of a mini book to include in my Project Life album. I used various carnival themed pages from the Here & Now Chapter set for my base pages. These fit perfectly into Project Life 5 x 7 vertical page protectors. To cover the binder holes, I used various patterned papers and sticker borders on the edges of the pages. Here is my cover page for my mini pages.
I used a Journal Card layered with Word Stickers to group together a fun title. On the outside of the page protector I used a Tin Pin and a button tied with baker's twine. I like to put these dimensional items on the outside of a page protector so that they become something tangible that you can feel.
The fun times journal card was layered with Mini Market Stickers and letters from the 12 x 12 Alpha Sticker sheet. These were stitched over with my sewing machine.

Tip: When working with pages from the Here & Now Chapter collection, you'll find that you'll the back and the front of the same page at times. To avoid stitching or punching through a page and having it show up on the reverse side simply stitch on items and add brads or staples to the specific item before adhering it down. It looks as if you stitched through the entire page and you're still able to add all those fun details.
Here's the 2 inside pages of my mini album. I used Instagrams that were altered with the Diptic app on my iPhone...then printed them on my home computer. The chapter pages offer so much detail that you don't need a lot more embellishing.
For the left page I tucked a stitched journal card under the photo, adding the two designer brads before adhering down.
On the right page I added the stitched star border to cover up the binder holes, a little Photo Log Washi tape and some chip 'n stick shapes.
The back page of my mini pages feature photos of the kids on the Ferris wheel. I was happy to put that giant Ferris wheel shape sticker on this page and put it to good use.
I ran the full sheet of label stickers through my vintage typewriter for the journaling. I added a date stamp and the mini staple before adhering to my page.
So you can see that my mini album consists of 2 whole page protectors. We're talking mini, mini album. The fun part about this is that it will go right into the big week of Project Life but will take on a whole life of it's own. You can see below what the 5 x 7 inserts will look like.
And here they are showing the inside pages. I love the look of this little album within an album and know I will be using it more. This has sparked a few other ideas for some upcoming projects and I can't wait to share those ideas with you. I know some of you will might have that "slap your forehead" moment with what I will be sharing soon. :)
And that's it for my first October Afternoon blog hop. The Design Team blog hop participants all have a prize going up for grabs + there will be a big prize at the October Afternoon blog also. I'll be offering up this fun chipboard bundle. Just leave a comment and the winner will be announced at a future date. You can leave comments until 8pm Central time, Sunday, September 9th. Tell me what you love about the Midway collection or anything you'd like.
