Copic Fun!!

How about a little Copic fun today? First I have a fun new card to show you, then I have some Copic prizes to talk about. Let's get to the card first. Today I've used Karen Lockhart's new Candy Wreath stamp to create a whimsical holiday card. This image is chock full of wrapped peppermint candies. I colored the candy stripes with a Copic Sketch R29 red color and then finished up the twisted wrappers with a Copic Sketch BG11 color. To make the candies shiney, I added Ranger Glossy Accents. My image is cut and layered with Spellbinders Square and Scalloped Square Nesties die templates.
For some fun finishing touches, I cut Papertrey Rustic Snowflake patterned paper into strips and adhered them to my card front at a diagonal....keeping with my peppermint stripes theme. Finally, I took my same R29 Sketch marker and drew a red line down a long strip of white satin ribbon. It looks just like peppermint candy, don't you think? Love that look!
Now for the prizes. Copic has added some new regional certification instructors and is celebrating by giving away prizes on each of the blogs listed below!
Winner gets their choice of either an ABS-1 or any 12 Sketch Colors.
Please leave us a comment letting us know either how you use Copics/which Copic products you use/why you love them or why you wish you had Copics. One winner will be chosen randomly from each blog. In addition, Copic will be reading through the comments as well. From those comments, a few other winners will be selected based on a testimonial that we really like. That person will be contacted to use their story for our CHA booth and they would then be given an equal prize to the random winners. Make your comments good! There will probably be 2 or 3 winners chosen total. These will not be announced right away. The drawing begins on Wednesday, November 11, and ends on Saturday, November 14 at 9pm, CST. Good luck!

You can enter for the prizes by visiting and leaving comments at the following blogs:
me......right here :)

Note: If you left comments on my previous Candy Bar Wrapper post, I will make sure that those get to Marianne also. :)

I love the peppermint wreath. Copics are great. I only wish I had more colors. I'm a collector. I love that Copic markers allow you to blend so easily. Thanks for the chance to win.

I just recently started my collection of Copics and only have a handful. My techinque is not anywhere near "perfected" but I love learning each time I use them. I would loive the chance to win 12 more colors!

I just broke down and bought my first couple - the ones needed to color in the santa image in PTI's Holiday Button Bits. I know it isn't a special reason or one that'll make me "win" but I am so in love with the way they blend. Stamping makes me feel creative, but coloring with Copics makes me feel like an artist! Thanks for a chance to win

Besides being such a huge fan of you Mish.. I am a fellow Kansian~ Hopefully new instructors are coming to the Mid-West!!!

When I was new to copics, and only had them for a short time, I fixed chips on some pottery.. here's the link to what I did to fix some dishes that I love.

I love the way you can add color to deepen, blend or even change the color with copic markers. i also enjoy coloring ribbons, buttons or other medium.

I'm new to the Copic as a user, we sell them in the LSS I manage but I never really used them for anything other than inking the edges of my paper until... I took the Copic certification class in Grand Rapids, MI with Marianne and my EYES were opened to the possibilities. I got to play with the airbrushing and I think that with that in hand - anything that didn't run away would be colored, LOL!!!! I would love a chance to win some markers of my very own or the airbrush system to use with my classes I'm developing to teach and addict others to the wonders of Copic! Thank you Copic and Marianne.

At AU$13.00 each Copics were a big investment to me. I really struggled to justify why i neede such expensive markers to my hubby so........i didn't!!!!!! but ssshhhhhhhhhh don't tell him!!! her just thinks they are regualr markers that i have a strange affection to! and ,yes i do love my Copic markers a little to much and maybe i should have cooked the family dinner rather than colouring images(LOL)but there should be an warning on the markers somewhere that says...WARNING...family members may go hungry when in use...and then a 13 number of the local pizza takeaway! but may family get fed most nights!!!!LOL!!!

I just admire the work that you do with the Copics, it is amazing. I love to color, but don't have any Copics yet. I am trying to save some money, but I keep buying the stamps that I want to color..it's just a vicious circle...HA HA!(does anyone even say HA HA anymore or is is LOL...can you tell I don't even know how to text!) Thanks for all of the inspiration, and I hope someday to "color" like you do with COPICS!

Love that peppermint wreath card, so creative! Copics are so wonderful for bringing stamped images to life. I only have a few ciao markers, but they are so versatile and easy to use. I love that even a beginner can look like a pro with the ease of blending, and the fact that they are refillable makes it a wise investment. I'd love to try out that airbrush system!!

Love the stripe on the ribbon! One of my favourite things about Copics is being able to colour ribbon and brads and flowers and things to match. You only ever need to buy white ribbon, with Copics around.

Rebecca Ednie said...

I love my copics for just about everything. I love dyeing ribbon with it. I often order white knowing I can colour it with Copics.

I have recently starting using copics and love them because they make colouring so easy! Having not studied art at school and being only new to stamping I can use all the help I can get and copics are very user friendly. The fantastic colour range ensures you are always able to find the right colour for your project!

MamaBugs said...

Michelle,
I am anxious to get some copics in my hands and try them. In the meantime I drool over blogs that feature them. They are really hard to find here in Hawaii so if you pick me you could change my artistic life!

Oooo...I just read TN Granny's comment about getting some on ebay.

Copics are crayolas for big girls! I love being able to colour and shade just like I did as a kid - except, this time, they don't break nor need sharpening! The best thing ever is introducing my god-daughters to the world of Copic with Ciaos. They draw cute manga chibis and then have the best time colouring. I prefer Copic classic (square heads) but love the subtlety of the triple & quad 0's of Sketch.

I love to color now that I have found copics. I used to avoid images that needed coloring and now it's all I do! I love to see what I can do with my copics and I just love the blending capabilities and the fun shadowing I can make. I am addicted to the blending pen and love that the sketch marjers enable my organization side with the numbers on their ends.

Really, what's not to love about Copic markers? I love to use mine -- they make me like coloring again and I didn't think that would ever happen! I resisted buying them for a long time . . . if only I'd known what I was missing. After I tried them, I had to have them!

Carol said...

I just recently started with Copic markers after seeing so many bloggers make beautiful projects with them! I use mine for cardmaking and stamping but have a long way to go and many more to purchase to have the great blending abilities that many bloggers have! I have been learning a lot from other bloggers on how to blend with them. The colors are so vibrant with these markers. I currently have a small set of sketch markers, but need more for the blending affect to work better.

I've been wanting Copics for so long, but I have been out of work because of health problems and we just can't afford them. I follow so many blogs specifically to look for images colored with Copics, I love how you can use the different colors together, shade them the way you want and make them as vibrant as you want. I always try to get stamps I can color, I usually use watercolor pencils... Copics are still just dream for me.

As usual your cards are gorgeous... you girls at PTI are the best!

Hello Michelle! Congratulations on becoming Regional!! Such exciting things happening for Copic and for you!

My latest favorite way to use my Copic Markers is air brushing!! I've been having such a ball since I picked up my ABS1 two weeks ago.

My husband and I went out and got a air compressor last night - my own. I don't have to share with him :o). I'm out of air brushing control. :o)

Take care and STAY POSITIVE!

I love my Copic's and can't wait to add to my collection! They are surprisingly easy to use. I had some preconceived notions about them and was really hesitant to take the plunge. I had markers and just would make do with what I had. Then I attended the GASC and went to a booth that was doing a make & take with the Copics. I sat down and the teacher told me about the Copics and why she used them and loved them and once I tried them I was hooked! They are easy to use, easy to blend and the colors are just wonderful. They make a bold statement on any project and give a beginner like myself the ability to produce projects that look like art! Now I find that I am using my stamps more so that I can color with my Copifs!

I’ll start by admitting my love for everything Copic! I had started hearing about Copics, but they weren’t as popular on all the blogs, stores, etc. as they are today. I purchased my first set and was thrilled – it looked like I could actually color! I was amazed because I wasn’t the type of crafter looking for images to color. My first image had me hooked and I was so excited I…no, I didn’t run out and purchase stamps to color, I purchased more copics. Then I “needed” the ABS and the Spica markers and the multiliners. I made charts of what I had and I made wish lists of all the colors I still wanted. I played with the couple of images I had to color and was happy. Then, through blogs like Michelle’s and Debbie’s and Ellen’s I knew I had to have more images to color. So, I stocked up on those and soon realized I needed more colors of my Copics to achieve the look (or at least have a fighting chance to achieve the look) of my favorite bloggers. So, here I am with a Copic wish list as long as when I started because the more you use these amazing markers the more you want…need…covet! So, I would have to say my favorite is the Copic Sketch marker because, while I love the accessories and all the neat techniques that one can try with the ABS, the reinkers, etc., my true love is the amazing Copic marker!
Thanks for asking! Karen U

Your card is so sweet. Thanks for another chance to win. I'm resorting to begging if that will help at this point, lol. This is sort of off beat of the questions, but my kids and I were talking one day about what would we do if we only had 10 minutes to gather important things and leave our home. Seriously, Copic Markers were on the top of the list. If I had to be gone from my house for an extended time, I would still want to make cards/layouts, etc. and I can't imagine making them without Copic Markers. Copic markers are one of those things that once you use them, you'll never stop. I'm sure I don't have to tell that to anyone that already uses Copic Markers. My collection isn't large but it is growing. I use original, sketch and last but not least, 1 Ciao. Thanks again!

Congratulations. Your site is a must to visit.

I have 4 Copics and 1 Blender because I had a chance to buy some this past summer. The problem - which ones to buy and now - How do I use them?? I received a card last year that was colored with Copics and we had a lot of discussion on if it was colored or was the picture on the paper to begin with. The surprise came when we were told it was a stamped image and colored with Copics.
So - - that is why I purchased a couple when I had the chance, but my attempt at coloring was not very good. I love the coloring I see from other stampers. What they do is just beautiful. I would love to have some more and hopefully some day get some training up in Northwestern MN. Thanks for the great chance to win some!!

I only have one (C1 for shadowing) but I've got the itch to buy a lot more and have been scoping them out to purchase this whole week. I had a chance to play with them at an Archiver's store. They are so different than what I am used to and I'm excited to try them out more.
When I see what my favorite bloggers/crafters are doing with them, it makes me so jealous. I wanna try too!!

I’ve been a COPIC lurker for a couple years. I didn’t even take the plunge myself. My husband held my hand and gave me some for a gift just a month ago. I’ve been surfing online for all the ways to use them and get better at using them… probably spending WAY more time surfing then I should on practice coloring with them. (I didn’t know there are Colorists. I want to be a Colorist! How cool does that sound!?! Nevermind that I have no color theory that could save me!) I learned the markers can also be used to color embellishments and so when I was making a mask for my Halloween costume, I thought, “Hey, I could use my new COPICs!” (I also tried to use a Sharpie, but it’s NOT the same!). Well, I guess I didn’t wait long enough for it to dry because my husband asked what all the black stuff was on my face… after I had taken the mask off. Well, I’m still surfing on how to use these things, but I also have actually started practicing. Fun times!! “Kids, want to color? Mommy wants to color.”

Copics have completely changed my life! I had been using Prisma pencils with gamsol, and was just not satisfied with my finished product. Where was the richness and vitality - nowhere to be found! Then I bought my first few copics....well, there was no stopping me after that first purchase. Every week I would buy a few more, then I had to buy the plastic cases to hold them, then I had to buy refills and replacement nibs. I have just purchased the new set of 12 that are the lightest colors - the only item left is the airbrush! I've told myself that I can purchase the airbrush after the first of the year - perhaps with some Christmas money. Here's wishing for some Christmas money!

Jee Whiz, yo do not know how many different types and brands of markers I have used over the years...try them out they do not give me the quality I want, push them back into the shelf, buy a new brand, try it out not the results I would like to acheive shove those back into the back of the closet, on and on and on! I then discovered Copic Markers. I am so mad I never found these before. If I had I would by now own every color and refill! They are such a professional quality. Blending is awesome. All this is awesome as long as I use Copic marker. Needless to say, I now have given all my other marker sets to my children. They can have them! Me....no way, it is Copics all the way!

Congrats!

In all honesty, I didn't think I needed Copics. My husband had a set of Prismacolor Markers from his college days that worked just fine. So why spend my money on Copics? I had markers that worked just as well, right? I had tried Copics at a stamping retreat, saw Debbie Olsen demo them at summer CHA '08 but hey, I had Prismacolor markers so I was good, right? Then one day a friend sent me some copics to play with. I still didn't want to get caught up in the Copic "craze" but hey, free is free and if someone wants to send them to me, I wouldn't say no. So I get the Copics and gingerly try my hand at them expecting the worse. Wait! Is that really my card? Wow, who colored it? Wait... it was me! With Copics! Wow! Look at the difference from the Copics to the Prismas I was using. I am in love with Copics now. My Prismas are gathering dust now as I head right to the small selection of Copics that I own. I would love to own some more but with the times being what they are, I can't afford to buy them all. So for now the 12 little Copics that I have are earning their keep and would love some friends to keep them company.

I love my Copics. I have both Sketch and Ciao (Ciao so I can afford to buy more colors.) I started using Copics to color and shade my die cuts on my scrapbook pages. As I became more confident in my blending techniques, I now do stamped images for cards. Copic markers just make it so easy. I saw so many beautiful stamped images on the internet, but with Copic markers, I can do that too. Thank you Copic. I love that I can color other materials besides paper with my Copics. I would love to be able to win the set of new colors.

I'm Michelle as well so it was easy for me to remember. Life has gotten a little crazy and I'm not on SCS as much as I used to be - hardly at all I hate to admit. What an awesome contest! I just love Copics. Their color is amazing. For many years I avoided the stamps that you had to "color-in". They were very intimidating, so I stuck with the solid image stamps or rather the stamps that required no coloring. Then about 2 years ago, I heard something about these markers called Copics. I had used markers before on the "coloring-in" stamps and did not like the results at all. These were borrowed stamps, so I was not really motivated to try anything else. But, Copics seemed different. The more internet searching that I did, the more interested I became. I finally stumbled onto the Copic website and their blog. Wow! The tutorials and explanations were amazing. I knew that I could do this, so I ordered some. Of course I eventually got some "coloring-in" stamps and fell in love with the whole coloring with copics concept. What an amazing marker! It is so cool that they are low odor, able to blend with other Copic colors, can also use on fabric and are refillable. I have not been using Copics for very long, but I have fallen in love with them. I only have a few now, but I plan to add more Copics to my Copic family as time goes on. These are truly a wonderful stamping tool that no stamp room should be without.

What a great giveaway! So fun! I use my Copics with other markers and pencils out on the market. Since Copics have light colors, I use them as the base for all my coloring, then I layer on anything else I have in my inventory. I would LOVE for Copics to release all the colors of Sketch in Caio version. I actually like the feel of the round tube more than I do the squarish tube. And I rather spend a little less money with Caio so I can buy more colors.

Congratulations, Mish!! Wish I could come take a class with you!

I love my Copics! I started with just two - a yellow and an orange - so I could color a duck stamp. The first thing I noticed was that the paper didn't get fuzzy even when I added extra color. As I could, I added a few colors here and there. The fun thing is that they look great both when you use just one color and when you're able to shade. I love the fact that my coloring looks so "professional" now. My animals look animated, my people are so much more "real" looking... and my comments have gone from "nice card!" to "Fabulous Coloring". Since I have no artistic background and no Copic training or certification, that's all because of the markers - not because of me!!

After becoming addicted to stampers' (mostly) blogs, I noticed how many bloggers mentioned their fabulous Copic markers. I was intrigued & started reading everything I could about them. I think I've purchased about every marker known to man, over the years, not ever being truly satisfied with the results. I've always been creative, love to color & (now) have a huge collection of stamps. Finally, I took the plunge & found that Copic markers were the answer! So versatile! To date, I have collected 154 Sketch markers, all the Atyou Spica pens, all the Multiliner SP BS pens, a black Copic Ink Pro Wallet Liner Kit Marker Set, one of the airbrush starter sets & the Papercrafting DVD. I couldn't praise Copic highly enough - I love it all!

My name is Sophia and I'm 14 years old. I started using copics a couple years ago when my favourite art started to stock them, and I bought my first two colours: E00 and E27. Before, I was just using sharpies and other random markers to colour my work, and my none of them had any nice skin colours! Of course, I loved the brush tip so much, (it was brilliant for doing hair!) I spent most of my pocket money buying a couple more colours! Then, for my birthday my grandparents bought me a 24 ciao set. It was love at first sight.
Now, I have a lot more now (around 55), and I have filled quite a few of my 5x7 copic sketchbooks up with my drawings! I wasn't that good with them when I started, I always ended up with icky bleeds and colours that went outside the lines. But I read many tutorials online, and eventually created my own style! Rather than going for light to dark for example, I colour in my base colour, then go dark to light. I've never seen anybody else do it this way, and that's whats so great about copics! You can use them in so many ways, and it always turns out fantastiv.
I love the versatility of copic markers. I have used them on school projects, cards, and colouring vinyl figures! I want to thank you for giving me the chance to use them, and all your other amazing products. I currently use your paper, inking pens, and set B of spica's (I use them on a whole bunch of assignments, as well as the finishing touch on a characters eyes!) Thank you for giving me the chance to use such amazing products.
