Lockhart Bride

Happy Beautiful Morning to you! Today I have some more traditional wedding shower cards to show you, using my absolute favorite color. I just love this blue-grey color that I call *front porch blue*. I found these beautiful papers by My Mind's Eye at my local scrapbook store(Scrapbooks, Etc in Topeka, Kansas), and the colors remind me of my grandma's front porch. It had many thick layers of this color of blue/gray and it makes me happy every time I think of her house. For my main image, I chose Karen Lockhart's pretty Bride stamp. As you can see in the photo above, she's got a handsome Groom stamp to match. For the bride's dress, I wanted to keep it pretty much the creamy color but I did want a little contrast to set it apart from the background. So I reached for my Eclipse Masking Tape and made a reverse mask for the skirt portion of the bridal gown. I carefully cut the skirt out with scissors and taped back together the mask. I used my Copic Airbrush System (can you tell I got some refills finally?) and airbrushed a wisp of color over the gown. Notice I said a *wisp*....just a few short bursts of color and that's it, you don't want to over do it. Easy does it, girls.
And here's my finished cards...I really wanted to keep these for myself! I cut and embossed the main image with a Spellbinders Rectangle Die Template and then layered that onto another Scalloped Spellbinders Rectangle. I kept both layers the same cream color and played up the beautiful tone on tone textures.
I added a Papertrey sentiment from the Simple Little Things set(anniversary set from last year, no longer for purchase), some pearls, lace trim, and some crushed velvet ribbon (May Arts from Archivers) and some glitter on the veil and skirt bottom. I think the cards evoke the feel that parts of the bride's gown is right there on the card.
I fancied up the inside of the cards too with another Papertrey sentiment from the Simple Little Things set and a colored vine image from Karen Lockhart's Rose Border stamp. I dotted the flowers and leaves with a little dab of Copic markers and then used my Copic Colorless Blender (0) to wash out the color.
Very pretty indeed for the pretty bride to be.

I have been a fan of your work ever since I stumbled across your blog, but I have to say this is my fave. This is the most beautiful card that I have ever seen. It made me feel all of those old feelings again of excitement at marrying my husband. Thanks for the unintended "walk down memory lane!"

Geeze, Mish. I'm starting to feel silly saying the same thing over and over, but here goes "WOW, just beautiful." Love the tone-on-tone layering, the airbrushing, the bling...the whole darn thing.

I love Karen's stamps, and have a number of them, but I've never seen anyone bring them to life like you do!

Beautiful batch of cards! So elegant and pretty.

I have a quick question, if you don't mind. How do you ensure that the nestability stays put when you are cutting and embossing a panel that you have already stamped? Mine sometimes slip, so I must be doing something wrong...

Mish -- These cards today (and yesterday) are so beautiful. I love the colors you put together and the more I see of the Spellbinders dies the more I believe I may have to break down and purchase. The embossed edges add such an amazing level of sophistication. Thanks for all of the inspiration!!! Can't wait for tomorrow's cards!

Very beautiful inside and out. I don't blame you for wanting to keep some. I love the tone on tone with the nesties. You can't go wrong with MME's papers either. The recipient is a lucky gal.

Stunning work as you ALWAYS do! I love every little bitty bit of this card and that you showed the reverse masking which I think makes a huge difference in the final product!
