Etsy Shop Update
Etsy Shop Update: A few new kits just popped up in the shop. No time to stamp? But need a few cards? These cute little card kits are just the ticket. These would be great little kits to make over the holiday....one for you, one for a friend. Or use as Christmas thank you cards. Enjoy!
Valentine Bird Cage Card
Well, it's the day after. Did you score some Papertrey goodies? Sounds like a lot of you did a little Christmas shopping for yourself. That sounds like the best gift ever!
Today I have one of my December Papertrey cards to show you. It's a sweet little Valentine created with Dawn's new Love Birds stamp set. I embossed the birds and bird cage images with gold embossing powder. The background image is my favorite one from Nichole's new Mat Stack 2 Collection. The little scrolls on this image are nicely illustrated.
For the bottom of my card, I used Pine's new Fillable Frames #11 frame stamp and coordinating die. Another favorite frame for me. The little patterned paper heart is from the new Heart Prints die cut collection. A must have for all your Valentine projects. The patterned papers I used on this project are from Green Tea Leaves and Happy Spots.
You can find this card in my Etsy shop today. Stay tuned for Day 10 of Melissa's and Mishie's 12 Days of Christmas coming tomorrow. We have a special guest designer joining us tomorrow. Can you guess who? Also, be on the lookout for some new kits going up in my Etsy shop soon. I know how hectic it is to fit stamping into busy schedules at this time of year so I'm putting together a few fun kits for you.

Love Tags...plus 12 Days of Christmas Day 9
Welcome to the second group post for the Papertrey Design Team this month. We're featuring the 2010 Love Tags stamp set and some fun Valentine ideas. Today is also Day 9 of Melissa's and Mishie's 12 Days of Christmas. It just so happens that our theme for today's countdown was Terrific Tags so we're using our PTI samples for today's projects. Enjoy!
First up are some cute tags made with the 2010 Love Tags stamp set, which will be available December 15th at Papertrey Ink. Using Papertrey tag dies, Happy Spots paper, vintage ledger paper and Cork Paper, I created some layered tags.
The *Be Mine* heart images one of the many from the 2010 Love Tag collection. Each of the PTI stamp designers contributed images to this set. Definitely a fun one to have for all those Valentine goodies. I love Valentine's Day and I always do a fun little countdown for my girls. For next year, I created a tag and coordinating heart tin for each little red. I'll add in little candies and treats for them to open the week of Valentine's Day.
And as a fun twist, I'm going to hide their little goodies in these vintage clothespin dresses that are currently in my Artsy Studio.
A little tag with their name on it....and a little goodie tucked inside each day along with some candy in the heart tins. Maybe some Reese's Hearts too...my faves.
Maybe some new fat quarters of fabric for Jordy...
And a pretty pink lip gloss for Josey....just little items to show that Mom loves them. :) Try to think outside the box when packaging items. Use items from your own home decor. You could also use little baskets....items wrapped in vintage hankies....spray painted tins that kids could use to hold pony tails or toy cars. Just get creative and have fun.
Here, I've created a card that with a non-Valentine theme. Although *be mine* just screams Valentine's Day, I combined some other sentiments to create a wedding card. The *Mr. & Mrs* is from 2010 Love Tags and the *happily ever after* is from Love Lives Here. A fun little collage of elements to create a whimsical wedding card.
And glitter makes everything better.....
Hope you enjoy! Be sure to check out the other Design Team blogs to see some projects I know you will LOVE:

Love Lives Here
Welcome to today's Papertrey group post featuring Melissa's adorable new set called Love Lives Here. Melissa's concepts for this set and Nichole's illustrations have brought a beautiful new set to life. The homespun images evoke feelings of love and home and all things good. I *heart* this set so much. Nichole asked each design team member to create a meaningful gift for loved ones. I chose to create some drink coasters based on the adorable ones Tara Anderson did on her blog here. I've had these on my list to try for quite some time now. I gathered up my patterned papers, new stamps and dies and purchased some tiles from the home improvement store. (These 4" x 4" tiles were purchased in a package...maybe 5-6 for about $4 bucks).
Let's get started, shall we? Using a stylus (or you can use a pencil) turn the tile top side down and trace on the paper that will be your base to cover the tile. I used a thin sheet of old ledger paper because I knew I was going to create lots of paper layers. Using some thinner papers like ledger paper, doilies, etc is a good way to get some thinner layers on the tile. Cut along the inside of the line, creating a piece of paper smaller than the tile. You want to see some of the tile on the top.
For any sentiments or stamped images, make sure to use ink that will not smear when used with Mod Podge. I chose to just heat emboss my sentiment with gold embossing powder.
Next using all kinds of materials, cut patterned paper, doilies, maps, ledger papers, stickers, die cuts, etc to layer on the tile. I ended up using 4 different Papertrey dies on this project. Love. I also used a Dainty Doily and a vintage road map on my tile. You could also use items you collected on trips like tickets and receipts....maybe tags from clothing for teenagers....old Christmas cards....pieces of fabric.....kids artwork.....magazine pictures, etc. The possibilities for these tiles is endless, just use a little creativity.
Once you've got your general layout planned, lightly adhere all the items to the base sheet of paper you first cut for your tile. Trim around the edges with scissors. Next, sew around the entire piece, then through all the layers with your sewing machine.
Your piece should fit nicely on your tile now. Using a sanding block, I went around all the edges to give a worn look and to mold the paper to the tile surface. There will be lots of little crevices if you choose these really earthy looking tiles like Travertine, don't let that scare you.
Using Mod Podge, adhere the piece to the top of the tile. Let this dry completely. You don't want to rush the Mod Podge drying process. This is where most of us get impatient....then the dreaded bubbles happen. Waaaait for iiiiitttt. Patience, peeps.
When that first layer has dried completely to the tile, add another layer of Mod Podge. Baby this a little bit as it dries and press down the edges into all the little crevices. Let dry completely. I waited about an hour in between each application of Mod Podge. Patience, friends. I added three coats of Mod Podge to my tile, coating the sides also to seal the deal.
When it's all dry, you end up with something pretty amazing! A beautifully embellished tile that looks cool.
All ready for that cup of coffee or beverage of choice. Note: I've never made these before so I'm not sure how they hold up to an hour's worth of iced tea drippings or hot coffee rings. My suggestion is to use the coaster as a fun place to house your drink....but probably try to wipe off any heavy wet spots. I'll make more and test these out for you.
None the less, I love them. Oh gosh, I must make more!
Especially since this one is headed to somewhere on this little snippet of map I included. Can you guess where? Zoom in see what states I included on the map. And look at that sweet little butterfly and scalloped circle die. I'm in die cut love. Three of my easy back and forth*messy stitches* and you've got yourself a cute little embellishment. Love.
More die cut borders here along with my gold embossed sentiment. Notice how each layer was sewn with the sewing machine.
For the back of the tiles, you must adhere some felt feet or cork or some kind of scratch guard. If you don't, your tables are going to not like you or your cute new tile coaster.
Now don't forget that Love Lives Here and the coordinating dies can be used for everyday cards too.
Here I've created two fun cards that we'll use as thank you notes after the holidays. Same layered style as my coaster, using more ledger paper, Dainty Doily, die cuts, embossing and twine. So sweet and homespun. Look at that cute little heart cut out.
I can't wait to see what the rest of the Design Team has created with my Melissa's new baby. Please check out their creations here....and remember comment love is always appreciated by the wonderful design team:

12 Days of Christmas..Day 8
Welcome back to Melissa's and Mishie's 12 Days of Christmas countdown. Today we're on Day 8 and our theme is Fabulous Felt and Fabric.
Both Melissa and I love to use fabric and felt on our projects so today we have some more inspiring projects for you. For my projects, I've created some fun little doo-dads to use as embellishments. Here I've created a thank you card with a pretty, embellished envelope. For the simple card I used Shimmery White Cardstock, the negative die cut image from a new butterfly die coming out this month from Papertrey, and a Vintage Pure Poppy Button tied with Rustic Twine. A simple stitch down the front of the card secures my paper in place. The sentiment is from Delight Dahlia.
For the embellished envelope, I used a Polka Dottie Envelope from my Etsy shop (I'll have more in stock at a later time in lots of colors), a Dainty Doily and a tied ribbon in Spring Moss.
For the embellished envelope, I used a Polka Dottie Envelope from my Etsy shop (I'll have more in stock at a later time in lots of colors), a Dainty Doily and a tied ribbon in Spring Moss. As for my butterfly doo-dad embellishment, it's all about lots of fun layers. I used Pure Poppy Felt circle as the bottom layer. Lots of circle layers of white netting is the next layer. This adds a lot of fluffy dimension to the embellishment. Then I used a circle of fabric, another layer of netting and a red circle of fabric. The finishing accent is a diecut butterfly that will be released with Melissa's new stamp set this month at Papertrey Ink. It's so cute! I ran all the layers through my sewing machine and then fluffed each side to add dimension. A Mini Clothespin is perfect to clip the doo-dad to your finished project.
The little doo-dads can be used in so many ways. Here you can see one on a mini envelope which could be used to hold a tiny card or tag or small candies. I also took a few and clipped them to some wire baskets that hold Etsy items above my desk. I think they'd be adorable strung up on a garland too.
Here you can see all the layers, so easily held together with a single line of stitching. Hope you enjoy! Be sure to check Melissa's blog for her beautiful creations today too. Be sure to check out her post about her first stamp set for Papertrey Ink too. The set is called Love Lives Here and has coordinating dies. It's good. You need it.
For my recipe today I'm sharing a treat we made last night.....Peppermint Milkshakes. I'm doing some fun treats and family night events for the holiday season and this was a good one. I nestled our fun milkshakes mugs into a little serving basket and threw in some candy canes. Such a fun little treat that I delivered to the reds.
I don't have exact measurements but the ingredients are: Peppermint Ice Cream (we used Blue Bunny), Vanilla Ice Cream, milk, Cool Whip and crushed candy canes. Blend up for the most creamy milkshakes ever. Oh so yummy. The peppermint ice cream has little crunchy candy canes in it and by adding a few of your own to the top makes the milkshakes even better.
See this? The dollops of Cool Whip on top are like heavenly little clouds. It's Cool Whip people. Not UnCool....but Cool. I love it. My family loves it. It's good stuff.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend friends. The little reds are cleaning house in preparation for their friends to come over. Tonight we're going to a church dinner that we look forward to every year....the Mexican Methodist Church combines with our local church for a wonderful feast, complete with pinata, Santa Claus and music. Good times. Then it's home for a big movie night and lots of laughter. I'll be busy working on my Papertrey projects. Have a great weekend everyone!

TGIF
Hi friends, hope your day is great and your weekend is even better!
I'm working today with new Papertrey products. Be sure to check Nichole's blog for the first go round of countdown posts. Such cute stuff today!
Melissa and I will be back tomorrow for our 12 Days of Christmas countdown. :)
Again, I'd like to thank you all for supporting my little Etsy shop. There have been some delays by the postal system with international orders it seems. This may be because of the busy holiday season. Please allow extra time for your orders to arrive....but feel free to email me if you have any questions. There is no tracking available for international orders but I can at least give you a time frame of when your order was shipped out.
Also, if you've ordered from my shop and like your goodies, please take a moment to leave positive feedback on your order....and I will do the same for you. If you have any problems with your orders, please let me know. You're all an easy bunch to please, so thank you for being such great customers.
If you have friended me on FaceBook, please see my side link for my FAN PAGE. You'll be clicking the LIKE button instead of actually friending me on my personal page. Just wanted to let you know that I'm not ignoring your requests for friendship. :)
I hope you all have a great weekend. We've got some fun plans for the girls and their friends that are coming over for the weekend....movies, great food, great times! I'll be finishing up my Papertrey projects and I would LOVE to put together the base pages for my December Daily album. Ali's done a fantastic job this year with your album, it's fun to follow. I'm loving Nichol Magouirk's Daily December album this year. She's a Kansas girl too so I had to give her a big YaaaWHOOoooo shout out. She's using these Parisian Anthology Pages by Pink Paislee for her album. Me too and I can't wait to use them! Might need more for my regular albums too.
Okay, I better get a crackin' here. Later peeps!

12 Days of Christmas..Day 7
Edit: Just wanted to add this photo below for reference. Forgot to add it earlier.

It's all about the candy. Our theme for today is Candy Land Cuties...embellishments with a candy theme in mind. Recently I've seen these wonderful, fabric pinwheel flowers but had no idea how to make them. Shimelle has a great video HERE that shows you how to make them. So simple and easy.

Welcome to Day 7 of Melissa's and Mishie's 12 Days of Christmas.
Today you're in for a sweet treat!
It's all about the candy. Our theme for today is Candy Land Cuties...embellishments with a candy theme in mind. Recently I've seen these wonderful, fabric pinwheel flowers but had no idea how to make them. Shimelle has a great video HERE that shows you how to make them. So simple and easy.Since I love red and white at Christmas time, I immediately thought of peppermint candies for today's project. I had a stash of red and white candy cane striped fabric so I made flowers just like Shimelle showed in her video. I wrapped my spirals with clear cello wrap and tied them off with red and white baker's twine. Aren't they just the cutest little peppermint candy embellishments? Jordan immediately went to work making her own when she saw mine.
Today I'm pairing my peppermint candy embellishments up with candies of the real variety. Reese's Trees are always a holiday favorite of mine and this year we're enjoying these Ghiradelli Peppermint Bark candies, so yummy. I packaged the candies into my new Clear Pillow Boxes. I have a limited supply of these in my Etsy shop for the holiday season but will be carrying them as a regular item soon. They're perfect for tucking in a few candies.
I fancied the packages up by placing a Dainty Doily on top of the Pillow Box. Then I secured a patterned paper strip around the Pillow Box with Scor-Tape. My peppermint candy embellishment is secured to the top with pop dots. Aren't these the sweetest little gifts? I think they'd make a great teacher gift or perhaps a fun little gift for a co-worker. Who wouldn't love to see this sitting on their desk?
I'm going to use these for place setting favors this year for Christmas dinner. I have challenged the Reds to a Christmas Dinner Throw Down this year. They each have to come up with one appetizer and one dessert item, complete with shopping lists, grocery shopping and cleanup! It should be a fun time.

It should be a fun time. Here I've used a peppermint candy embellishment on a Short Sleeve glassine sack. I love how the favors look so cute sitting on top of vintage crocheted pot holders and my creamy white plates. I've been collecting the potholders all year long, hoping some good idea would pop into my head.
I would love to make a holiday table runner and some cloth napkins using my vintage fabrics I've been collecting.
Ohhhh, I can't wait for our actual Christmas dinner using these pretty place settings.
Hope you enjoy my peppermint twist on some fun embellishments. Look for the Clear Pillow Boxes to be up in the shop soon along with a few fun kits using more pinwheel flowers. And don't forget to check Melissa's blog. I am predicting sugared candies, whaddya think? Also, she has a sweet surprise announcement that you will be giddy about this month. Congrats, sweet friend!

Make + Save: Creative Card Packaging
Hi there. Today I have another Papertrey Make + Save project for you. It's all about Creative Card Packaging and some tips on creating my signature Tent Topper Cards. (Note: If you click on the *Tent Topper Cards* label at the bottom of this post, you'll be directed to all of my blog posts that feature Tent Topper Cards). My Make + Save feature is exclusively for Papertrey Ink. I'll feature the projects here on the blog and links will be provided for the project supplies over at the Papertrey website. You'll be able to easily access all my Make + Save projects in one place. And for your convenience, you'll be able to order the supplies right from the Make + Save links. On to today's project. Today's Tent Topper Cards feature the Rustic Snowflakes Patterned Paper and the Signature Series Cupcake, Flower and Dress form stamps and dies.
I began by stamping and die cutting the dress form, flower and cupcake images. I also die cut some XL Pure Poppy Felt, cut some Aqua Mist Twill Ribbon and cut strips from the Rustic Snowflakes Patterned Paper. Tip: At this time of year I choose to use colors that could easily be used for the holiday season...but could also be used for every day occasions. Notice that the colors used in my projects contains red and greens, but that I didn't use any actual snowflakes from the patterned papers.
To create Tent Topper Cards, the idea is that the card base is a smaller square and some sort of image sticks up above the card, thus creating a topper to the tent folded card. My card bases are usually 4.5" square when folded. The topper can be any size you want depending on what you will be using for embellishments on the square. If you zoom in, you'll notice that I used Guide Lines I Grid Sheets to add some visual appeal. If you want your Tent Topper Card to stay an A2 size card you just need to make sure that the finished card height is not more than 5.5" tall. I keep a ruler handy when making my Tent Toppers and adhere the topper portion slightly below the 5.5" measurement.
I chose to make 2 of each Tent Topper Card design. The basic layout is the same for each card. The tent topper part has a raised die image, some twill ribbon, tied Vintage Buttons and a stamped sentiment. All of the stamps are from the Signature Series sets. The base cards have various Rustic Snowflakes patterned paper along with strips of patterned papers and the Rick Rack felt borders.
Here I've taken photos of each design. The cute dress forms....
The flowers.....
And the sweet cupcakes.....
All of these cards are generic enough in nature that you can use them for a variety of occasions including birthdays, thank you notes, etc. This little stack of 6 cards with simple white envelopes would make a great gift for someone who loves homemade cards. And I haven't met a person yet who doesn't go ga-ga when they get a gift like this.
What makes giving cards as a gift even more special is the packaging. Using Papertrey's Clearly Creative Card Boxes are one of the easiest ways to package up pretty cards. And since they're clear, your beautiful work shines through. You don't need much else to make the finished packaging look really nifty.
The six cards and envelopes fit easily into my box. Just be careful that you don't use too many dimensional elements on your cards if packaging them into the clear boxes. I used some Aqua Mist Swiss Dot Ribbon to tie around my card box. Then I added a stamped and die cut cupcake that was fancied up with glitter, buttons and baker's twine. A simple eyelet through the top of the die allows it to be tied to the Aqua Mist Ribbon.
And that's it. These little gift boxes travel well and look so cute tucked in with other presents under the tree. I hope you give them a try. Tip: Save a few cards from each stamping session and store them in a nice basket. When you need a gift, grab a variety of cards and tuck them into a clear box, all dolled up with ribbon and a fun embellishment. It makes for some very easy gifts that are always appreciated.
