Project Life Week 11, 2012

Hi there, if you're visiting from Becky Higgins' blog, welcome! Today Becky is sharing links to all the Project Life Creative Team Members blogs so be sure to check out her blog for links. It's always so inspiring to see what everyone else is up to with Project Life.

Today I'm sharing Week 11 of my Project Life. I'm about 2 weeks behind but that is very manageable compared to the 17 weeks I got behind in 2011. I've been trying to make any inserts that go with a week that I'm working on so that is taking a little bit longer. But well worth it. Here's my 2 page spread
Note: It seems I forgot to take photos of the individual pages. I'll get to that later and add them back into this post soon.

Here are some of my favorite inserts from this week. I was working with my snow confetti this week on crafty projects so I thought it would be fun to include it right in my insert. I also used some Washi tape from the Smash Book collection + a journaling spot, fabric brad and a Large White Tag. I've really enjoyed including a photo of a weekly craft project in my albums.
Here's a line up of some 3 x 4 journaling cards, starting with my week in review on the left, a shot of the weather in the middle and an artsy quote sticker from Cosmo Cricket. The plaid journaling card is from the Clementine Core Kit.
Here I used a trimmed down Library Card for a journaling card with typed label and photo. The middle insert is another Clementine card with letter stickers and hand journaling. On the 4 x 6 photo insert at the top, I typed on some of my Grid Labels + added a circle embellishment from Banana Fish Studio.
Here's another 4 x 6 insert with photos of Charlie digging in the garden. I added a hand cut patterned paper flat + wood grain chipboard letters + a stamped Small White Tag. The letter stamps are from Hero Arts.
I also added an insert this week using a Design G Photo Pocket Page. I love this 10 x 12 size because I like to keep my inserts smaller than the 12 x 12 pages. I think the main week remains more visible and the smaller inserts lets the viewer know that the inserts act as add-ons to the week.

The front page of my insert shows my dad, a hard working farmer. Always active. A recent world traveler and always on the go. Healthier than ever at age 78.
The back side of the insert shows my dad the day that he had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. This page was very, very hard to make. I almost trashed it because I really don't want to be reminded of this horrible time. The horrible news. But I decided that it's a part of life. A part of my life that I want to document. A year ago, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer and I didn't scrapbook one bit of it. I wanted to forget that it happened. I decided that making this insert about my dad's cancer is part of our journey. A story that needed to be told. And before I cry anymore I will just stop typing. On a good note, my dad's surgery was a success. The doctor's think the cancer was contained and caught early. We hope and pray that this is the end of this little journey.
And now for some fun stuff. Many of the Creative Team Members are giving away some Project Life products this week. I'll be giving away lots of items from the Cobalt Project Life collection + a variety pack of the Photo Pocket Pages.
To enter your name for the prizing drawing, please leave a comment telling me something special you've added to your Project Life pages. It can be a special story, an insert page, a fun piece of memorabilia.....anything you like. Or perhaps you have a story you'd like to add to your album. Anything you want.

Here's the details on how to enter the contest:
1. Contest is open to US residents only, sorry to everyone outside the US
2. You must leave your first name and state in the comments section + a blurb (see above)
3. Comments to be considered for the contest will remain open until Wednesday 11:00 PM Central Time. Winner will be announced Thursday.
4. Contest winner will be asked to email a Project Life representative with contact & shipping information. Prize package will ship from Amazon.
5. Good luck!

One of the things that I added to my PL, was a receipt from Sam's Club. I saw a bunch (maybe 20 or so) of Mormon missionaries walk in and over to the snack bar. My son and I ran over and bought all their lunches. It was so much fun and they were so appreciative! I love that receipt!

So glad your dad is doing so well. My special story I am including in my Project Life album this year is the story of my mom and dad moving from KY to PA be closer to me. I am in charge of the move and selling their house. My dad is suffering from dementia so this move is bittersweet. I want to document as much of this change in all our lives as possible and Project Life is the perfect venue for me. Your dad remains in my prayers.

Project Life reminds me to take photos of the everyday THINGS. I used to basically take photos of people. Now I try to get wide angles to use as backgrounds - with wide open negative space so that I can journal over it. I also try to take photos of the things that are just so ordinary. I remember seeing an old photo of my mom from when she was a girl. Though it was cool to see my mom as a young lady, it was more interesting to look at the background and all the bits and pieces of things behind her. Those tell a story too.

I don't have a Project Life Kit but I would use it if I had one! I am really impressed by it and would like to have one.

The first thing I would write about is our new house and pictures of fixing it up.

The pictures of my grandkids are the best things I've added to my album...they love seeing themselves in "Grammy's Big Book"!

Good for you in documenting your time with your dad's treatment. Best wishes on his continued recovery!
I would love to record the everyday craziness of my kids. My son recently got a phone and has been text-crazy. I know that would make it into my album for sure!
Thanks so much for the chance to win.

The little things I've added have been my favorite, like bits of paper my daughter colored on.

I'm so glad your dad is doing well, and I'm glad you shared the page. My goal was to start PL at the beginning of this year, but our family lost my brother-in-law to cancer the first week of January. I've found it impossible to start my PL binder this year, even though I've collected photos and ephemera over the last 10 weeks, because I just can't find how to document that first week. So thank you for sharing how you documented a tough time in your life.

I had a party recently for a friend and forgot to take ANY pix. So I printed out the Evite and put it into one of the 4x6 slots -- worked great as a reminder of the party.

I LOOOOOOOVE your PL pages!! All the fun embellies and extras...gorgeous! I have really tried to incorporate little pieces of our everyday lives that would have otherwise been easily forgotten: pieces of wrappers from my boys' favorites toys, receipts, little scribbles...love PL for that.

I've been trying to take more photos of the details. Food, shoes, messes... I love incorporating these little bits of life in Project Life!

Thanks for the opportunity to win this beautiful kit. I haven't started a PL album yet, but I would probably add some fun memorabelia from our favorite day trips with the kiddos - the Botanic Gardens and the Denver Zoo come to mind right away. I would probably also stick a cup cozy from Starbucks in there, too. :)

I've taken the minimalist approach to project life, so all that's included in my albums are the pictures & the stories. That's all I really need!

I haven't given in to PL yet, but this kit would be an excellent incentive, don't you think? Right now, I'd be telling the story of how crazy our cat is in the morning -- like, tear around the house for minutes at a time crazy!

My name is Naomi and I live in Australia but have a great US friend who would love a kit - she lives in Nebraska and her name is Shawn but shhh it would be a surprise ...

Your PL pages are the best. I've wanted to start one, but I just don't think I could ever make it look the way you and the other creative team members make it look.

I am a follower of your blog, but so rarely leave comments. I have just recently begun my own journey with cancer and would love the chance to start a Project Life book. I guess I'm just hoping that I can have a Project Life to pass along to my family.... ;) some days it's easier to keep the hope than others. I am so happy that your dad has done well after his time on this road. it helps give me the strenght to carry on.

My dad passed away from pancreatic cancer in Sept, 2002. I watched him from diagnosis to death and have photos along the way including his headstone. I haven't scrapbooked them yet because I don't want to remember the sad times. I was only 27, but he had been away most of my life due to divorce. I now have some inspiration to complete those pages... thanks to you!

I think one of the coolest things I added to my pl is a cookie recipe from my mil in her own handwriting. My daughter and I happen to be making them and when I pulled out the recipe it dawned on me that I should put it in my pl album and since she's been gone for 16 years it makes it that much more special.

I have been using my project life as my everyday album, I don't use it for the picture a day. I just add pictures as I take them, I am always adding inserts of smaller pages, and on special occasions will do a traditional page and then add the additional pictures of the same event using the PL pages. I love it!! Would love to win as my current album is almost full!!

I love your week, how each insert is like a mini scrapbook page. Very nice!

Wishing your dad a fast and full recovery.
