Daily December Album 2008

A while back, I talked about Ali Edwards' Daily December Album. She did one last year and has one ready to go for 2008 also. You can read all of Ali's posts about her Daily December Album ideas HERE. She is one of my favorite scrapbookers and has this wonderful graphic, hip, git er done styles. Just click on all of the links to read all of the posts. A Daily December Album is simply a count down album for the month of December that documents your traditions, blessings, thoughts and just daily life for the entire month, counting down to Christmas Day. You can document big stuff like baking cookies and wrapping presents, etc or it can be day to day stuff like grocery shopping or picking the kids up from ball practice.

The idea is to make an album NOW that is ready to go for December 1st. You create a page or two for each day. During the countdown, you take a photo or two for each day and also do some journaling.

Here's some of my album photos. I found this Making Memories mini Christmas album in a drawer. I had to take off the metal binding so that I could add more pages. Finished page sizes are 5" x 7". Next, I gathered up a bunch of Christmas themed papers and ribbons, etc.

I also gathered up some embellishments such as letters, rub ons, buttons, etc.

Then I just went to work one day. It took me most of a morning to finish my album...probably about 4 hours total. The idea is to get this done quickly so that life can carry on. No need to make it all fancy schmancy. Below is the cover of my album.

And the following photos are some samples from my album. You start by numbering your first pages with day #1, then day #2, etc.

I didn't get too fancy, but I did add a few fun journaling snippets here and there, some ribbon and buttons, etc.
This one was a fun page, I used a vellum envelope with a felt snowflake and some of that glittery snow stuff inside.
The pages below use a technique that my friend Pine did with her snowflake stamp set and Marvy snowflake punches.

Chipboard letters are a good thing. I find most of mine at Archiver's and add some to my shopping basket every time I go.

My last day below will be Christmas day.

So where do you go from here? I'm going to take photos daily and print photos as I go. I'm hoping to sneak a mini photo printer home next weekend while I'm gone on my scrapbooking retreat. I'm also planning to type my journaling in a typewriter style font, printing it off and cutting to size. This way I can journal all in one document. The girls might do some of the journaling too and I thought it would be fun for them to take part in the photography also.

I'll be sure to post updates once December rolls around.

Be sure to check out Pine's blog HERE to see her Daily December Album. It's so awesome! She finished hers speedy quick! We were chatting about it one day and next thing you know, she was posting her finished album!! I'm hoping my friend Ang will do one too, she's a great digital scrapbooker and I'd love to see what she creates!
Disclaimer: No pocketbooks were hurt during the production of this Daily December Album. I used supplies I had from my stash...very proud, *green* moment!

Michelle - this is so cute; i've been wanting to do this but I think I want to start with a "week at a glance" mini-album, before committing to the whole month. So maybe i'll do it next year. :-) Anyway - so in your album, it looks like you made it for a 2-page spread for each day? Its very cute and I love your style! Thanks for sharing; i'm off to look at the other examples you included in your write-up.

Michelle, I LOVE your album!! I had been following Ali's posts, but I love yours even more - it's more my style!! Thanks for sharing. One little question... how did you keep the snowy stuff from coming out of the holes you punched in your vellum envelope? It doesn't look like there's any adhesive (but it IS a small picture, tee hee!) Was wondering if you had a special invisible-vellum-hole-reinforcer or sumthin'!

Love your album, especially the cover!!! That ball fringe is adorable!

I LOVE your album! I just bought my album cover today so I'm hoping to get started on mine this weekend. It does look like you are devoting two pages to one day and you just alternated the numbers left and right - ? Also, like someone else asked, how are you keeping the snow pieces in the vellum envelope? That is such a fantastic idea!!

I have all my pages together and all I have left is to add the numbers. Love yours!

What a cute album! I'm glad you're showing it now. I need a lot of time to make things like this with 2 year old twins and all.

Could you please tell me what paper trimmer you use? I would like to invest in a really good guillotine style since I hear it's self sharpening and the Fiskars Euro trimmer blades wear out too fast for me and the costs add up.

Please email me at onestlrfn@hawaii.rr.com

Thanks!

Very cute! I got mine done right away too -- also using only stash, like you! It's a good feeling, isn't it?

Mish, this is so cool! I want to make one! Thank you for the inspiration. I love Ali's and Pine's blogs as well and you have all inspired me to make one of these. I know my youngest son will love to be involved with this as well (my oldest will too, but since he's 16, he can't admit it~ LOL!). We have a book that has ideas of what to do each day before Christmas. This will be fun to journal.

I did Ali's week in the life album, and I wasn't sure if I could commit to the whole month of December, but now I really want to do it. Your blog is very inspiring.

Hey Mish -
I just did an album based off your daily December album--however, I didn't do a count down, mine will just be for Christmas photos b/c there is no way I'll be able to do a page each day! =) Hopefully, I'll get it posted on my blog soon.
Also - remember I'd asked you about embossing and cutting at the same time w/ your nesties? Well, there is a thread on SCS about doing them both simultaneously -- by adding 2 pieces of cardstock as "shims" to the sandwich... Just thought I'd share. Have a great night.

Michelle, I know this is not suppose to be complicated, but did you randomly use two pages instead of one (right and left side) in your book? And was all of your paper double sided? Just wondering I started mine last night and hope to finish today....

Great book - thanks for the inspiration. I totally LOVED your comment about how your pocket book wasn't hurt in the making of the project. Hilarious! I may have to use that statement...at some point in the future.

Thanks again!

Among so many designer handbags knockoffs , maybe the most common knockoff is Hermes Birkin.

To celebrate the opening of the new loius vitton store, Louis Vuitton launch the special "Singapore Exclusives" limited edition.

The bags replicas have no clear capital letters G, which, like C and the genuine features separate double-G, not together.

Are you still upset for failing to find out a famed designer handbags for less? Just believe me, you have been in the right direction.

Designer hand bag continues to be upward under the price and material challenges.
