The fall colors peak in late Sept, so it would have to be next year, but a GREAT place! You have to go to Lutsen, MN which has a gondola that brings you to the top of a mountain and there are great hiking spots there! If you want to go somewhere in the winter, it is also a great ski resort :)Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18209454029682434268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-411939643357638479.post-47150531158418680862007-11-19T10:09:00.000-06:002007-11-19T10:09:00.000-06:00We usually go to ST. Our St. Louis Zoo is nationally recognized and it's FREE to get into! We have a fantastic science center, which is now featuring "Bodyworlds 3". An art museum, a history museum...The City museum, which I've heard is INCREDIBLY AWESOME... I've not had the chance to visit yet. In my neck of the woods, St. Charles County, we have historic Main Street, which is lined with quaint shops, including a precious little paper crafting shop. (Rock, Paper, Scissors) Lots of yummy restaurants along Main Street too... but I am biased. Simple, easy, but a little piece of Carolina blue heaven. Early mornings with the sunrise on the beach, late nights with a sunset on the beach, and lots of surf and sun in between on the beach. Only go back to the room for food and potty breaks. I live just outside of Richmond, and what I love most about the area is this - within 1 - 1 1/2 hours you can be at the beach to the east, the mountains to the west, a city with history (Washington DC) to the North, and a slower pace with the friendliest people just about everywhere you turn. We have the most beautiful fall colors right now, the change of seasons are amazing. It is a fabulous walking city so be prepared to walk everywhere. There are plenty of great restaurants, shops, european-influenced gardens, and historical sightseeing. The aquarium is fun. Great walking tours and home tours. This town is oozing with character and charm. The ocean is very close by (just over the bridge) so plan on a day over there as well. That makes it a great get away, but not a lot of traveling involved. Another favorite place for my family to vacation is Hot Springs, Arkansas. They have so much to offer a family. There's a theme park (Magic Springs) with a water park (Crystal Falls), fantastic views off of West Mountain and a tower you can ride up in to get a panoramic view, digging for diamonds, fantastic historical architecture at bath house row where you can not only tour old buildings set up like they were in the 30's, but you can get massages and take a long soak in the mineral hot springs waters. There is an aquarium and the thing my kids love the most is the IQ Zoo with animals performing all kinds of tricks. There is horseback riding and trail hiking and a wonderful interactive museum of discovery.Holly Younghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16326066329920202922noreply@blogger.com
